The price was definitely more on the steep side but the addition of Foligno is huge.

I love the addition of Foligno and Nash. I wonder what else Dubas has up his sleeve. It would be nice to upgrade on Dermott.

Literally the biggest and really only area for improvement is the PP, and he was able to pick up the one high end rental that does nothing to help with that. No idea what he's thinking

Leafs have Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Rielly etc. to figure out the PP.

If 50 million dollars worth of players can't figure out the PP, then they have bigger issues to deal with.

Anyone that thinks he's just a 3rd liner is wrong.

This guy has led the BJ's forwards in toi for years, regular season and playoffs.

And those are also the toughest matchup minutes, and they're one of the best defensive teams in hockey.

Right, he's played 18 minutes for years, generally against strong competition and consistently put up great relative goal/shot numbers.

The scouting staff isn't going to have much to do come draft day. They're all gonna hang out at Timmy's...

Bunch of people want to load up but are afraid to pay the price once it happens. The window doesn't stay open forever and the cupboards are loaded pretty good right now.

Never a better year to go all in. I think we still see more moves too.
Nick Foligno is loading up?

Not a fan of this deal at all. Paying an extremely high price for a very mediocre / below-average player at this point. Could have gotten Hall for that much, easily. Hall won't even net a 1st supposedly.

It SUCKED playing against Foligno last year in the playoffs. Great movie Dubie.

Edit:

2 more thoughts:

1. Foligno is going to be a better, more rounded version of Clifford minus the fighting. No one fights in the playoffs anymore anyway, but Foligno will 100% be the man to stick up for his linemates every shift. Foligno also is a huge addition to our PK, which will be huge in the playoffs, and has already cost us in the playoffs.

2. In response to the argument that this is a "waste" of a draft pick - we would be wasting our prior first round picks (Marner and Matthews and the gang) by not maximizing our roster during our window. The window is wide open right now so we might as well go all in.

SCOUTING REPORT
A pure sniper, he has a nose for the net and very good shot. He also boasts good hands, the ability to line up on either side of center and a goal-scorer's mentality. Needs to become a more responsible defensive player if he is to maximize his NHL potential. Also needs to cut down on his penalties. Injuries are a problem.
Long Range Potential: Solid winger with a little upside, when healthy.

That's a fair take. Definitely not a big deal, but definitely not an ideal price to pay.

We're better now for sure and that's what matters.
