You realize that retaining 20 percent on Manson is almost the exact same as Kesler's financial commitment, right?

If the ducks were prepared to pay a guy $1m+ something to not play for them, they'd simply do it with Ryan Keller.

As I already mentioned, what I proposed saves the Ducks over 1M in real dollars, 1.11M to be exact. Purposely kept the retention lower than the Kesler salary for that reason. Far more realistic and mutually beneficial than the homer offers you suggested.
