Atkins showed his inexperience today. AA would never have waited for the dieing seconds of trade deadline to make a move.

This explains the Reddick trade a little more. We should have been in on Reddick and Hill. We could have topped that offer.
when is the deadline officially over??

The Happ trade, Lincoln for Snider.
Are you talking about the Happ for Saunders trade? That was an off-season deal no?
The Happ trade, Lincoln for Snider.
Meh, maybe. If AA was still around without Shapiro as the President I could see AA willing to trade guys like SRF, Tellez, Alford, etc. to make a big splash.and last years' cost us any ability to do anything this year.
The deal to acquire Happ from Houston
Really?
He traded prospects for a starting pitcher who is now a star (took awhile, but it still happened).
And he traded a nothing outfielder for a nothing RP.
Those are your examples?
Because Snider and the guys they gave up for Happ were such huge losses....

AA"s track record before the 2014-15 offseason was not good at all.
His last 12 months saved his ass.
The Happ trade sucked regardless of what he turned out to be.

Another Thing To Consider;
With Saunders, Bautista, Encarnacion all due to hit Free Agency, it may be wise to keep our prospects to help fill holes for next season.
Who says teams are willing to give up "splash" talent for these guys?
At the time the JAys we're rebuilding. Trading prospects away for Happ didn't make sense. Musgrove is a very good prospectWho did they give up, that was such a big loss?
Happ is now a star left handed pitcher and they used him to get Saunders and then signed him back as a FA a year later.
Seems like a trade that worked out very well.
The happ he traded for 2012 wasn't close the happ that was in 2015 and 2016
