I definitely think Pilut is an NHLer too. I just didn't think Buffalo valued him very highly, given they've been reluctant to give him a real shot in the lineup.

That may have been true of Botterill, but we don't know what Adams thinks. Fans, for the most part, certainly see him as an NHL caliber player with some value.

Hopefully Adams is a little sharper than his predecessor. It's tough to blame Pilut for feeling like he was jerked around here. He deserved an extended look this season and never got it because Botterill thought he'd hoard as many defenseman as possible. It's entirely possible that relationship is completely unmendable and he gets moved in a deal like this.
