Which means... Mika might still be suffering from post concussion injury syndrome.

If he was ready, it wouldn't make sense to call up a center.
Brooks or someone was saying that they want him to at least get in a full practice before playing, no practice today with a game tomorrow means he’s probably not going to play, so insert Nieves for one game

Carp said in one of his recent columns that it's a neck injury (just an FYI)

Poor Gettinger, he was fine. You get your first NHL point and sent down. He did nothing wrong.

McKeg is going to be out a little bit so they needed a center.

That bumps Mika down to 2C when he gets back and Chytil to 3C. Man this team is deep.

Wow, kiss of death. Can we have 93 back (from a potentially serious head/neck injury) before taking bows for depth? ...I think what you meant is: all it takes is one injury and man, we are in trouble.

If we can get past the fact that Nieves is a former 2nd rounder (a very late one mind you) whose offense never panned out and so will be almost exclusively used as a 4th line center there are some things to like about the player and actually I like him more than McKegg. Boo has better size and is a better skater than McKegg. He is a for real center and the Rangers know him well and the Rangers have used him quite a lot as a penalty killer. While there isn't a lot of offense--he has speed enough where opponents can't exactly take him for granted.

Tim Gettinger FWIW did alright. Those two games along with the four from last year gives me the impression that the Rangers see something there. IMO--he has no reason to be super disappointed. He's getting looks.
