You could make the case that Tie Domi could have been more serious about being a more conventional third or fourth line player and he could have better a few more 15 goal seasons here and there. Is that true? My recollection is that the concussion disappeared much more quickly. Nied was stretchered off the ice, but as soon as he was out of sight of the TV cameras he jumped off the stretcher to phone his mom and tell her that he was OK. My memory may be incorrect.

I don't condone Domi's off ice behavior ... unacceptable. Niedermayer getting taken out was long overdue. Leafs were second best in that series by a long way anyway.

I was watching a sports show and there was a player from NJ on the show, they asked him about that hit and he said it looked scary but Neidermeyer was upright and talking to his wife seconds after he was taken off the ice. Scott is no doubt a HOF in every sense of the word but he also had a dirty cheap side, Dr. Hook.

Question... what was the NHL’s concussion protocol in 2001?

I am not sure if they had a concussion protocol at that time. I heard Colby Armstrong say, after he retired, that when he had a head injury he did not say anything because he was afraid he would lose his spot on the roster and be out of the league. I believe that was a common sentiment at the time.
