Status quo with what everyone is saying here.

Hayes has shown some value as a bottom 6 guy, due to his size and physicality. He's also carved out a nice niche for himself as a net front presence on the power play. He had a beautiful tip yesterday against Vancouver, and just keeps finding himself in the right places to finish off rebounds. The Panthers have lacked players like this for awhile.

As for Olsen, he's only played well when paired with Gudbranson. He's going to have to battle it out with Petrovic and Robak over the last month to secure a spot on the NHL blueline for next year.

Phil Esposito had a pretty nice career doing just this.

In fact, there were bumper stickers (twitter of the 70s) that said:

Jesus saves
Espo puts in the rebound.

So basically things have flipped for Hayes/Olsen since early in trade. Hayes now having success with Olsen faltering

Not surprising as Olsen didn't appear to be more then a #6/7 with his skating and defensive issues with Hawks/Hogs

Its just too early to tell.

Smartest to look at this a year from now.

Yeah pretty much.

I like them both and think they have decent potential.

Hayes on 3rd line, and big body in front of the net for powerplays.

And Olsen when pairing up with Gudbranson.

Hayes is awesome and should be resigned to anchor our fourth/maybe third line for years to come. Finally somebody who understands you need to screen the goalie on the PP. He showed potential earlier in the year but wasn't given much ice time. I was never too sold on Olsen as anything more than a third liner, Guds was playing great at the time and making Olsen look great too. But with that being said I would mind resigning Olsen to a two way deal. He would be good in the A and a good call-up guy for the big league

skating? Olsen's skating is probably his biggest strength. he moves very well for a guy of his size.

he was plenty solid in the first 15 games or so he played, been struggling a bit lately....but he's still 23.

he can be a decent #4/5.

Hayes has really good hands, especially for a guy of his size. If he stays in front of the net like he's been doing, he's 100% going to be on the team next year. Good to see him find his role unlike Matthias who refused to play to his strengths and wanted to desperately be a top 6 forward.
