Prospect Info: THN Future Watch 2014 (February/March)

We're approximately 6 weeks from the magazine getting shipped out to subscribers (then on newsstands early March), so I'd imagine they will start working on the rankings and write-ups soon. They do the majority of the write-ups immediately after the WJC.

Remember, age doesn't matter when it comes to Future Watch. As long as the player isn't considered an NHL regular at the time of printing, they're considered a prospect for FW. This is why sometimes you'll see a player who is 24 or 25 on a teams list.

To remind everyone: Each teams list is provided by a member of the actual organization, whether it be a scout, GM, assistant GM, etc..

Lost some confidence at the beginning of the season and I have others a bit higher than before (Collberg & Fucale). I'm not following Hamilton closely enough to make this clear cut though. I'm afraid his coming might be the next Hainsey. That would be far from what I hoped to begin with. I guess that's the main reason behind having him a few spots back.

Look at Leblanc he played 42 games in 2011-2012 and isn't a regular.

Can't say I agree with that assesment, here's mine;

1. Jacob De la Rose(Played on the first line for a STACKED team Sweden in WJC, creates havoc in front of the net, 2-Way; like Plekanec with Muscle and Grit)
2. Artturi Lehkonen (also on the top line, but for Finns at the WJC; at 18 he's the top pt producer on his team in the top Finnish League and seems to be quite talented)
3. Zachary Fucale (Clutch goalie, consistently gives his team a chance to win. Safe to say he's the starter at next year's WJC, without Brent)
4. Martin Reway (Powerplay producer, INSANE pt production in Q, Ultra talented; wouldn't be surprised if he gets a stint in the AHL at seasons end)
5.Greg Pateryn (ready to replace Diaz, Excellent hockey sense and he should be the first call-up)
6. Jarred Tinordi (Starting to turn his game around)
7. Sebastien Collberg (needs to bulk up, would rate him higher based on use in WJC but his pt production in the Swedish league is gruesome. Hopefully he signs for the AHL next year so he can develop his obvious skills)
8. Sven Andrighetto (Impressive debut in the AHL, hopefully he can regain his step from that injury. He's taken away any hope of L.L being used as a depth player)
9. Dalton Thrower (polishing his game in the CHL, needs seasoning; has a mean streak)
10. Charles Hudon (Clutch in WJC, Good 3rd Line potential)

HON Mentions: - Christian Thomas (has the scoring touch, still need to see more of him)
Mike McCarron (despite a good showing in the preseason, he's not had a great time adjusting to the OHL. He's a project but if he's given enough time to develop I think he could be an important player)

Disappointing
Nathan Beaulieu (Not developing his game, seems disinterested. I see he has talent but man he's not developed whatsoever in the last 2 years. G.P has taken over any shot for him to see NHL action this year)
Louis Leblanc (Issues with management since he was sent down, stalled development and I don't see where he would fit in. Obvious trade candidate)

yeah but when you take what we have prospect wise and put it together with our young core and I think the future is very bright.

Just think if Galchenyuk and Gallagher weren't on the team right now but tearing it up with Sarnia and Hamilton. Everybody would be like our prospect pool is awesome. But it's like now that those 2 are in Mtl our prospect pool is mediocre, hahahaha. Doesn't make any sense.

THN Future Watch....

Coming out in a months' time - I've been hired to do Montreal's prospect page in the Future Watch, as well as the Islanders and Hawks.

I already know Montreal's top ten list as the assignment has been sent to me. Somebody in the organization provided the list to THN, I'm not sure who exactly.

Does anyone think they can guess the rankings?

First one to guess the top ten prospects in the correct order will be given a premium subscription to McKeen's website.
