Galchenyuk will remain first line center because he showed that he had the ability to do that. It's that simple. Young players have to displace veterans with superior performances. AG did that. And it isn't just points because he was pointless in his first 2 games as #1 center. So MT saw something different this time and stuck with it.

Rather, he was forced to make adjustments because Desharnais and Pacioretty wasn't working. Deviating after a couple games wouldn't make any sense, especially since we were winning. Once Galchenyuk caught fire, slotting him back on the wing became near impossible to justify.

The worse thing is that you are actually not quite right.

Galchenyuk was moved to center because Eller got injured. That 'good' move by Therrien was actually not his own decision, but something that he had to do because of a random event.

Eller's injury didnt move Desharnais to the 3rd line though.

Well, Therrien had to try something and the second line was fine. It was basically a 50/50 thing. You either put Galchenyuk at center on the 3rd or you try him on the 1st.

But the point is, none of that happens if Eller isn't injured. And that might be Therrien's best 'decision' in a long time. I say Eller's shoulder had a bigger impact than our coach on that one.

The day of Galchenyuk's move there were people on here saying he couldn't handle it and that we had no choice but DD...

Now those same folks (not necessarily the same people in this thread) are talking about how it's only now that he could've been put in the role. It's total BS. The guy comes in on game one and is 97 percent on possession and plays the most dominant game a center of ours has played since forever. And if Eller didn't get hurt we STILL wouldn't be seeing it.

Anyways like I said... what matters now is that the lines are mostly straightened out. I genuinely think we're going to start playing a lot better going forward. If our play improves and Price stays the same this team could be really scary going into the playoffs.
