I haven't been following Gulitti much lately, but I'd have to imagine that he has had to pipe down on his very outspoken stance of the world cup being ''Not a real world cup''.

Since his employer is technically the NHL now, since he works for their website.

If he worked for The Record still, I could see him going on an unfiltered rant about how one of the gimmick teams is a finalist.

I don't really think Team Europe is a gimmick team anyway. It's not the players fault's that they are good but maybe the nation's they come from are not good enough or big enough to have their own national team representing. You would have to omit a lot of pretty good players if you couldn't combine the remaining nation's into one team.

Ralph Krueger. That guy is a heck of a coach. Watched them live in game one against the USA and said then and there they had upset potential. They work hard and he has them playing exactly how they needed to in this tournament, patient. Leans heavily on his top two lines and top four defensemen (josi, sekera, chara, seidenberg), doesnt make any moronic calls from behind the bench. I remember him being good for the oilers in his brief stint a few years back and they got rid of him for no valid reason. He should be back in the NHL very soon if teams are smart and he wants to be. That said, I don't think they have a chance against Canada. They might be able to keep the games somewhat tight, but I don't see them winning one.

I'm curious to see how much response the Team Europe gets from the nations it currently represents now that they are in the finals.

On the slim to none chance that they actually upset Canada, I wonder if it would have a mini Miracle on Ice like ripple effect in some of the smaller hockey nations. Obviously, it's not the same as it would be if Germany or France or Norway won the World Cup, but it has to count for something. They knocked off US and Sweden to get to where they are too.

Hard to root for a Torts led team that also press boxed Cory.

I did root for Palms of course and have no problem rooting for Zucc on Team Europe.

Definitely rooting for Team Europe. I'm glad one of the "gimmick" teams made the final. Pronman said it best that guys like Kopitar and Draisaitl won't have a chance to compete to win internationally. I also loved Team North America.

Tournament grew on me even though USA Hockey was a joke.

Last I saw their defense in the playoffs, it was pretty awful. The team system they play might be good enough to get them into the playoffs, so I don't think they'll be allowing many shots in a game.

But their defense was pretty bad last I saw, I know they didn't re-sign Luke Schenn. Not sure who they replaced him with, not that he was any good anyway. I don't think they can help us out there. I wouldn't want any of their defensemen, outside of Doughty, Martinez or Muzzin. Remember, they also took back Rob Scuderi too.

I know Shero obviously likes him, I do not and would not want him near this team. 2012 incident not even taken into account, he's just an awful defenseman. Deano always wants an old stay at home grenade handling type. He had Scuderi 1.0, then he had frickin Robyn Regehr there, then traded back for Scuderi when he passed on re-signing him in the first place. They also had Brayden McNabb and Jamie McBain playing there last year on D too. I think they're hurting there also, but the system will allow them to stay in games with that D. Their goal scoring looks less than impressive, even with Gaborik.

Only because he's a Ranger, does it amuse me so much. But there's so many memes and gifs of him on the ground after a game winner is scored. From after Henrique's OT winner, to after Martinez and the Kings cup clincher, this one also. I think there's a few more too.

He seems like he's 36 or 37, since he's been in the league from the time he was 18.

He's got a ton of miles on him for his age, he hasn't played 1000 regular season games yet. He could have hit 1000 this year, if he played in 67 games. Seems unlikely that it would have happened, regardless of this injury or not.

He didn't have a good season last year in the 54 games he played, but it wasn't completely awful either.

It was almost word for word the exact phrase.

I say this even before the game tonight, I'd be surprised if this went 3 games. Doesn't look like Europe is gonna win a game, which sucks. I'd like to see it a little more competitive.

Believe it or not, there actually is one thing that Melrose does worse than talking/commentating/analyst.

Head coaching in the NHL.

He was such a poor head coach in the NHL, that he couldn't even get hired after a one cup finals appearance in 3 years of head coaching. That's why he had to start doing this (hosting NHL2nite) on ESPN 20 years ago.

And then when he did eventually get another NHL head coaching job, it was well over a decade later and he barely lasted a month before being fired.
