They carry the puck on the rush into the O-zone and don't pull up and make a pass, drop it, or pass it to an open man until they are into the defender and can't go anywhere with it. Turn over. Tucker did it that time. They have been doing it all night.
Comets are getting chances but not exerting any kind of consistent effort. Luke is lining up on the single shot and that ends up being it until they are back the next time.
They have not played since Saturday and won't play again for another week. They have to bust their asses this 3rd period. They are just not skating and working anything like they have in previous games.
Interview with GM Johnson is nauseating. He actually talked about how important it is to keep up with the moves that take place in order to keep the team with what it needs. This as the team is playing their second game with a total of 11 forwards and 7 D-men.
He has had since Feb 26th when the last 2 forwards were injured. They played again on the 27th for the first time with the 11 forwards and Arseneau was banged up. 10 forwards.
Tonight is 4 days later still 11 forwards and Arseneau is noticeably playing banged up. He is normally a wrecking machine. He has been very passive tonight. They don't play again until next Wednesday. What are the chances he does nothing expecting recoveries by then?
They cannot complete a pass and when they do the player who got it turns it over, dumps it in and it's turned over, forces a play that doesn't work. It's just awful to watch
The Comets looking to take a pass and shoot, but are finding a player right in their way. Their offense has to have more to it than puck carrier finds an open man and then he shoots it. That kind of simplistic offense vs a defensive stature when your team is very low on snipers is not effective.
