That's 63 players and I'm probably forgetting some. You might think some of those guys aren't place in the good group, but the point stand, great draft for everyone.

The Bruins did an amazing job at getting alot of pick in an amazing draft 13-14-15-37-45-52

Here are 12 pre-draft list I could find and who were the top 3 pick still available at the Bruins ranks:

ISS:
Mattew Barzal
Travis Konecny
Kyle Connor

Bob Mckenzie:
Mattew Barzal
Kyle Connor
Jacob Zboril

Future Consideration:
Mattew Barzal
Travis Konecny
Kyle Connor

Damien Cox:
Mattew Barzal
Nicholas Merkley
Kyle Connor

Mckeens
Mattew Barzal
Kyle Connor
Travis Konecny

Craig Button:
Kyle Connor
Brock Boeser
Nicholas Merkley

Shane Malloy:

Brock Boeser

Hockey Prospectus:
Mattew Barzal
Kyle Connor

THN:
Mattew Barzal
Kyle Connor
Brock Boeser

THW:
Mattew Barzal
Kyle Connor
Travis Konecny

Boston Bruins:
Jacub Zboril
Jack Debrusk
Zachary Senyshyn

Players ranks by popularity:
Barzal 10 votes 1st (10) 2nd (0) 3rd (0)
Connor 10 votes 1st (1) 2nd (6) 3rd (3)
Konecny 5 votes 1st (0) 2nd (3) 3rd (2)
Merkley 3 votes 1st (0) 2nd (1) 3rd (2)
Boeser 3 votes 1st (0) 2nd (1) 3rd (2)
Zboril 2 votes 1st (1) 2nd (0) 3rd (1)

Svechnikov 1 vote 1st (0) 2nd (0) 3rd (1)
Senyshyn 1 vote 1st (0) 2nd (0) 3rd (1)

Funny enough, Chabot was above Zboril in 7 of the 11 list were they were ranked (Pronman didn't had any of them in his 1st round).

Hey, at least we can say this draft could have sent the Bruins into cap hell and they avoid this like professional ;)
Doesn’t look too bad when you go 4/6 against the hindsight machine’s top 63 and you walk away with 2 top six/ top pair players.

If they took Carlo with their last first round pick and Senyshyn at carlo’s spot, do you think this thread would exist today?

Shea Weber was available second round of 03.
Over the years I’ve come to want Pavelski in the 2003 3rd even though I didn’t know who he was at the time

The guy I DID want was Parise at 15 and O’Connell traded back

Likely cost him his job

But we got 2011 out of it and I don’t change a thing

2011 was magic

Still not 100% sure 2011 happened

That 03 draft was brutal at the time and even worse in hindsight - except for the part where they got the best player of them all.

2011 was so spectacular I wouldn’t touch a speck of grass before it to alter it

My daughter loves Sobotka but says if he was never traded in Sumer of 2010 it would have altered the 2011 season. She says it was meant to be

The next Cup I want to win here and I want it with Bergeron, Marchand, and Pastrnak at the top of their game

Excluding the Esposito line which is hard to quantify the current Bergeron line is arguably the best Bruins line in last half century and one of best I have ever seen

I do believe all 3 score 1000 points if they don’t lose 2020-21

Yes. See consensus view on Barzal.

To answer that question, 100% positive that a thread in this vein would exist - just harping on something else that "could've been" without any context to why it happened.

Barzal, I can also say with 99.99999% certainty, would not of been ROY if he was drafted by the Bruins. The career arc would of been similar to what happened on the Isle, with the exception that he would of been a 3rd line center here in 2017/18 (+ maybe 2nd PP unit), at best, flip flopping between Boston and Providence to work on his 200ft game. Going to the Islanders will be the greatest thing that could happen to him and his bank account over the first half decade of his professional career.

I don't know which side is more annoying, the ones who can't get over it and bring Barzal into every conversation, or the ones who have Sweeney Stockholm Syndrome and have convinced themselves that Senyshyn is a great prospect.

Thanks for the reminder of why I think GM of the year Donnie Danger is still in over his head. This draft should have cost him his job.
It’s so insane that his apologists here won’t admit that. They just refuse to acknowledge that his drafting failures and his Backes and Beleakey failures deprived us of an easy Cup this year. God help those who don’t fall in line. You get erased.

There really is no defending this draft. It was a historically deep with high end talent draft we haven't seen since 2003.

Out of your top list the Bruins have Carlo and Debrusk to show for it this far.

I support Sweeney a lot now because of how the team has developed but if one of Zboril or Senyshyn cannot be impact NHL players it was a terribly handled first round. 6 picks in the top 52 of the 2015 draft yields much more 9/10 times.

I'll keep turning a blind eye to it because it absolutely is what it is. Defending it is indefensible however.

Well said. In a weak draft, a team can reach for player, but you just don’t do that in a historically deep draft, such as in 2015.

Why does this thread exist? 2015 draft was still a good one in my books and are we gonna pretend like we didn't absolutely kill it with the Pasta pick at #25 and McAvoy at #13 and soon to be Vaak at #17?

This is just a thread of hypotheticals and a bunch of "what ifs"

What if we had Connor and Chabot? I'll tell you. We'd be in a shit ton of cap trouble very soon.

It exists for those of us who want to talk about it. Learn from it; reflect on it, etc. It's kinda the reason humans study history.

Of course, if you're not interested, you're not bound to read it. But, eliminating history (herein, the equivalent of deleting threads (or even posts) because some people don't like them) is a well-documented bad idea...

The 2015 draft was good, in that Boston got Debrusk and Carlo, but it should have been so much better, given where the team drafted in the first round and the incredible depth of talent available. It is proving to be a missed opportunity. No one is pretending that the Pastrnak and McAvoy picks weren't great, but to bring them up when talking about the 2015 draft is just deflection ("whataboutism").
