I really enjoyed the game. After Allen gave up the second one I thought oh boy, he fits right into our line of goaltending disasters, but did he ever shut the door after that stinker. And what a great first game for DeSimone, the guy without a headshot on the Devils website. Same as Kahkonen, but he is so new, that one is understandable. Now, please don't follow that win with another poor effort against the Coyotes please. The Devs CAN play well if they want and now they even seem to have proper goaltending. But do they really want it is the question.

Jack just has no handles anymore. He made one or two good setups but he absolutely blew that perfect one from Mercer, without even getting a shot off. It's been like this since he came back, and he seems to be getting worse, not better.
17 points in 18 games since he’s be back, not a disaster but not far off compared to what he’s capable of.

He's the focal point of PP1 and plays 20+ minutes a game. A point a game is basically a minimum. So it's pretty close to a disaster, but the problem is he's clearly getting worse. He was piling up tons of shots early on but that has stopped - after getting 77 shots in his first 12 games back, he only has 14 shots in his last 6 games.

Last time Jack was held shotless in a game was March 11th….2023.

Jacks shotless game the other night was the firsts one of the season

Why? Because we got good goaltending and they didn’t?

if so then we’ve fluked our way into a bunch if L’s this year.

Funny, when our other goaltenders let in one goal at the beginning of games, (15 seconds!!) and then another super softie right after it, and when the other team hits the posts and misses open nets and could've gone ahead 4 or 5 nothing pretty easily with the way we were playing hockey,.... but we luck out and then the other goaltenders give up some of the ugliest goals scored this year including one where the defenseman actually shoots it in his own net...

I don't really crow about how 'great' our goaltending was, and how well we played.

It was nice to win. Allen recovered nicely.

Flukey fluke fluke win.

Some get too high and low with every game here it was a win in Dallas so that's good....There was good and bad in the game but to say it was a fluke because their goalie sh*t the bed and their d then we had a lot of fluke losses I guess this year....We have had similar games where we didn't bury chances and lost that's usually how it works one team doesn't play as well as the other....

even if it wasn’t a “fluke” we can’t expect to win every game like that even if they keep up the same level of play. a lot of those goals won’t go in.

the takeaway from the game is we didn’t give up anything after the first and the goalie shut the door which is a great change of pace, but it’s not like our depth scoring just woke up because nosek scored on a wrist shot from 100 feet out and tierney scored from behind the goal
