Unless Saad is coming back, trading Camm to Chicago is so stupendously counterproductive that it makes me want to punch myself in the balls.

But of course Chicago would never do that.

Hey if they need Cap gone.. Sharp + Good Pick/Prospect for Cammy does it for me most likely

I dont want Cammy traded though.

I wouldn't touch that. Sharp is already declining and his contract expires after next season. 1st, Teravainen, and Bickell (for cap relief). That's still borderline.

Sounds like it. Listening to TSN Toronto radio and the guys noted that it was wearing on Clarkson to be the salary albatross. Fresh start + less media scrutiny in Columbus (perhaps ironically, those were some of the things that Nathan Horton wanted when he signed there).

'salary albatross'...

of course, Clarkie is going to make more than Ryan Johanssen for the next 4 years. That should sit well.

Can't believe Nonis paid him $7m in two of those years. Yipe!

I didnt realize how much Sharp has declined. Yea, no reason to want to move Cammy. I love the guy

Now in before we turn around and trade our Jagr picks to Columbus for Clarkson.:sarcasm:

That's not funny, Bleed.

Don't even joke about something like that....something about tempting fate, you know? :sarcasm:

I would take Sharp+Teravainen+

Sharp still has 32 points in 47 games this year which is a better PPG than anyone on the Devils, his contract is not that long anyway.

Even worse. How the **** is this allowed? I really feel like I'm missing something.

Bet you it's because neither team has the letters NJ or the word "Devils" in it.

Bunch of hypocritical ********. Letting other teams get away with things while we pay for it. bah!

Oh well....It's not like it will put either team over the top(more like under the ground)....

It's odd because with at least pronger/Savard they are still on the team they originally signed with before being ltir. Horton got traded while being on LTIR which idk how that is allowed but what do I know

Edit:

Many asking what happens if Horton retires. He won't retire. If he did retire, he wouldn't get paid the money owing him on his contract.

The league is a joke. How is a player on LTR permitted to be traded? And the league had the nerve to punish the Devils. And for all the posters who claim only Toronto can afford to pay a player 6 million to stay at home I counter with the Rangers, Flyers and one or two other teams. Let's hope they fix this loophole.

They won't.

You KNOW they won't.

They'll wait for Lou to do something similar, AND THEN they'll give us their Fake outrage and punish the Devils, as if they've been doing their stinking jobs before.

Technically Buffalo traded for Kane on LTIR too and nobody batted an eye on that one. But yeah it doesn't really pass the eye test when the guy's practically next in line for Pronger's job at the NHL.

Yea but kane doesn't have a career ending injury and getting a spinal fusion

Right but if you just say you can't trade for a guy on LTIR where do you draw the line, how do you know besides common sense that someone on LTIR isn't going to play again when clearly the player himself isn't going to admit that. It's a little hard to find a boundary to legislate against this, though obviously there was no boundary with the Kovalchuk contract either.

They should just make it where players on LTIR cant be moved. I know there is no line dividing it but like you said there was no line dividing kovalchuk. The big market teams win again and the nhl has been preaching about parity for the last 10 years but yet they continue to turn and look the other way

Well the bottom part is exactly. The kovy contract didn't break any offical rules. The league just felt it went to far.

So while this doesn't break and official rules it does seem to far (because that's a ton of cap space the leafs got) and seems to in spirit circumvent the cap.
