my point is if your waiting 4 ish years to see if we have a bonafide #1 center a lot of our older core players like Bozak/Kessel/Phaneuf/Lupul will be into there 30's by then and might be on the decline, so if the plan is waiting to see if Nylander can become a #1 center then those guys should be moved out for more players in the Nylander/Kadri/Reilly age group.

and let me say this is exactly the route I would like the leafs to take.

Edit: I'll also add that I was very happy with Picking Nylander it was the right choice imo.

#2 Edit: and if we wait 3-4 years to see if Nylander becomes that #1 center and he doesn't now were waiting probably what another 2-3 years for the next prospect or for someone to be available in trade?

And I believe they will be, just not yet.

My guess would be:

Lupul - Any time now
Bozak - 2 years
Phaneuf - 3-4 years
Kessel - I think he'll be around a while.

Lupes may be moved but the return will either be a similar aged player or if we're lucky a 3rd rd pick which would create cap space.

Who's going to want Phaneuf in 3-4 years at his cap hit . If we want to move him the best chance is within a year or so , after that we're stuck with him .

I don't think Nylander is even guaranteed to be a center in the NHL.

He played a lot of wing last year and was listed as a C/RW on his draft chart.

Agreed. With Bernier the whole year, our defense upgrades, and one of the best offenses in the East, Leafs will be a very difficult team to beat. :)

ummm what? we had berny for a full season,

he played in 55 games, 16th highest total in the league.

most starters only see 60, 65 games

I get this OP now, we are improved this year to get the 1st overall pick next year.

Took me awhile, spoken in code.

The Leafs haven't had the same management for TEN MONTHS at this point let alone TEN YEARS.

How is it the same management?

oh, your not one of those isiots are you?

everytime they change a shoe lace or water bottle everything gets reset and forgotten?

The teams management is a complete duck up. It's not hard to figure our that Nonis is the worst GM in the NHL. He is worse than Snow if its possible.

They are scrambling for anything to latch on to. I remember there was a documentry where in the event of a plane going down where there is a state in which the pilots become completely incompetent even though they seem in control. The answers are easy and before them but they can't see the problem. That is what is happening in Toronto.

Polak will be a weakness on this team.

I also don't understand why people are running with this "Polak is a very mobile" blueliner crap. Just because the organization touted it, it has to be true?

They traded a decent, top 4 Dman in Gunnarsson for a lesser player and they also retained salary and included a pick in the deal - of course they are gong to have to blow smoke about his mobility. He's no better a skater than Cody Franson.

My thoughts, take it however.

Gunnar was brutal offensively, and for a defensive guy he got beat constantly, people were always trying to stretch the small good things he did (shot blocking, stick checking).

Polak does both of those, he also hits, and is very good on the PK. The fact that he shoots right makes him a perfect stay at home partner for either Rielly or Gardiner. I'm sure that Gunnar will become amazing and have a career year now that he's traded (as ex leafs do) but this is a solid move. This may seems hard to understand but not every move that's made can be a blockbuster or an absolute win. You need to give things up to make change

Gunnarsson of 2 years ago? I'm freaking out along with everyone else. Gunnarsson of today though..

Weighted average? :help:

McClement has 682 games NHL experience and Kontiola has a sample size of 12 games.

The sample sets are vastly different verses the PPG averages which you're imply are equal which to me seems to distort actual NHL games played figures.

Is it easier to maintain a .42 PPG over 12 games or 682?

If Leafs recalled a Marlie and he got 5 points in 5 games = 1.0 PPG = Kessel getting 82 points in 82 games would be considered as equals by your methodology. ;)

Wake me up when Randy bo Bandy is canned and/or Dion is rocket-shipped to the moon. You want to talk about leadership, these blockheads inspire no one.

That's why I totaled the IN's and OUT's so my numbers say what I wanted them to say, just as you did. :sarcasm:
