Our top 9 got bigger but im not sure we are any gritier, PAP is no bruiser and it says something that in our top 9 the only guy who will go anywhere on the ice is gallagher.

Our entire grit is on the 4th line.

IMO, this is the last move that need to be made in order to take the next step and stop being a smurfs team.

Not yet. Glachenyuk won't replace DD's 60 point production next year. Maybe the year after that. Besides I can only see teams wanting DD if he has only 1 or 2 years left on his contract.

You need people who can fight and play and that will be tinordi no need for goons

Yeah sending a green promising defenseman to go against real enforcers, its a good thing that can never go wrong.

tinordi's plate is going to be full next year. Adding sherriff to our bigger but softer top 9 is not worth the risk. If other teams dress heavyweights and we decide not to, we are going to get what we deserved and what we have largely got for the last decade.

I don't think those are right, the measurements from last years camp were: (of course Weaver, Parenteau, Malhotra, Gilbert come from their previous teams)

Pacioretty (6'2) - Desharnais (5'7) - Gallagher (5'9)

Galchenyuk (6'1) - Plekanec (5'11) - Parenteau (6'0)

Bourque (6'2) - Eller (6'2) - XXXXXX

Emelin (6'2) - Gilbert (6'3)

Beaulieu (6'2)/Tinordi (6'6) - Weaver (5'10)

physically larger... sure.

Tougher to play against? Not likely.

Pap/Gilbert vs Gionta/Gorges = less grit/toughness

Tinordi/Beaulieu vs Murray = wash in toughness department

Maholtra/Weise vs White/Parros = wash

sekac/? vs Moen = TBD

more talented... yes. physically bigger, yes.

Tougher to play against in the physical department... doesn't look that way.

Not liking how the first game vs the B's is shaping up as of today... prust/weise/tinordi will have their hands full.

Some need to understand that a couple inches taller won't make the difference between winning and losing.

I am not worried, Desharnais will be gone soon, Gallagher will be here long term and Tinordi, Beaulieu, Pateryn, Ellis on the back end and McCarron up front with our current forwards will make us one of the biggest teams in the east.

The grit is coming in the pipeline : McCarron (2nd/3rd liner), Crisp (4th liner), Nevins (4th liner). We need more of these...

We still don't know if McCarron will pan out.

So we tell our remaining little guys and the new softies to hold the fort by themselves till they come (whenever that might be)?

ive been down that road, I aint going back.

Looks you might not have a choice ;)

We will (hopefully) get a parros replacement, a guy who might not play regularly but who will play against teams dressing enforcers. Our top 9 might be bigger but it aint tougher.

Murray and Parros were big and could fight. They're gone. Agree with sandy do not like the thought of young Tinordi as the go-to guy to slug it out with goons. Will Bergy add a heavyweight?

Galchenyuk's 40 points last season came with less-offensively-equipped linemates and little PP time. Reasonable to expect he would improve his totals with better linemates and power play chances. ;)
