Going off on a tangent here...

No dig on the Bolts 62-16-4...they were incredible this year. Most dominant NHL team since the Wings. But...Lightning won six games (6-1) in a post-game skills competition...something that did not exist before the 2004-2005 lockout when a tie game would have simply registered as a tie.

So to compare that win total to the 1995-1996 Wings team that went 62-13-7. Not taking away from what the Bolts did this year but just imagine how many extra wins the Wings might have added (three at minimum, probably more like four or five).

Now...Bolts did it in a salary cap era, something the '95-'96 Wings did not have to worry about.

Bolts accomplishment is probably more impressive but a win total that needs context.
