Scouching still has him Number 2 overall above Cooley. It will be interesting to see how he wraps up the rest of the season in a different system. Having a 3rd solid center pick in this draft would help alot, not totally sold on Savoie.

Reports out of Slovakia have Nemec becoming a dominant player since his return from the WJC. I’m becoming more and more open to just picking him third or fourth, if that’s where we end up. I like the idea of him in Tucson next season. Especially while we still have that coaching staff together for another year (hopefully). I couldn’t be happier with what they’ve done with Mayo, Dineen, JJM, and Kolyachonok, etc.

Absolutely fine with one of Nemec, Kemmell, Jiricek. I think Jiricek has higher upside than Nemec but I do think Nemec has a better chance at being a great NHL player.

Would be stoked if it's Nemec or Jiricek and they play in Tucson next year.

When reports first started about Chychrun I immediately thought that they must like someone in the draft.

All-American game starts in a bit, Gonna have to flip between this and the Yotes game. Looking forward to seeing Cooley again.

Good to see a 96 player list - was a bit disappointed they only ranked the top 16 before.

Hoping to see some tiers emerge here, I kinda have a top 4 then 3 then it starts getting messy after that.

Bobby Mac has 1-5 like this:

1. Wright
2. Cooley
3. Kemmel
4. Savoie
5. Slafkovsky

^ I’m hoping for one of Wright, Savoie or Cooley with our first pick.

To me, the REAL VALUE in this draft is right in the range where our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th picks land, presently.

Guys I REALLY like in this range:

26. McGroarty
27. Hughes
29. Mateychuk
34. Nelson
35. Bichsel
36. Pickering
37. Del Bel Belluz
39. Beck
40. Kulich
44. Casey

That’s 10 names. HALF the guys listed in that range that I’d love to add to the team. And we’ve got SEVEN picks in there. This is incredible to me. Extremely exciting.

These quotes are very relevant for our picks 2-8 in this draft. We could end up grabbing a bunch of guys we have way higher on our list:
Multiple players outside TSN’s top 11 got some consideration as top 10 picks. That group includes: No. 12-ranked Swedish winger Jonathan Lekkerimaki; No. 13-ranked U.S. U18 centre Cutter Gauthier; No. 16-ranked Saginaw Spirit defenceman Pavel Mintyukov; No. 17-ranked Austrian forward Marco Kasper; and No. 35-ranked Swiss defenceman Lian Bichsel.

Mintyukov, the Russian defenceman playing in Saginaw, is emerging as a red-hot commodity and rising draft star. He had three Top 10 votes, including one in the top five, but also had seven votes at No. 20 or lower.

— If there is a bevy of prospects between 11 and 32 who are excellent candidates to break into the Top 10, there are multiple prospects ranked in TSN’s second round (Nos. 33 to 64) who could push their way well into the first round.

That list includes: No. 3-ranked North Bay Battalion defenceman Ty Nelson; No. 36-ranked Swift Current Bronco blueliner Owen Pickering and No. 37-ranked Mississauga Steelhead forward Luca Del Bel Belluz, who aside from having one of the best handles in this draft is rocketing up the draft charts.

The scouts continue to love Miroshnichenko and Lambert keeping them high up.

This surprises me the most:
Nemec may be another poster boy for the wide divergence of opinion this year on top 10 prospects. Four of 10 scouts had Nemec in their top 5 but four also had him just outside their top 10.

Happy to read this:
The prognosis is Jiricek will be out two to three months, but at this point scouts don’t seem overly concerned about the injury negatively impacting his draft status.

I'm kinda leaning towards taking either Nemec or Jiricek with our first pick these days.

The story at the top appears to be lack of consensus outside of the top two. Nemec ends up No.9 but 4 scouts had him Top5 and four had him outside the Top10.

Miroshnichenko was ranked as high as 1st overall by one scout and outside the 1st round by others. Lands at No.6 by average not by consensus.

That seems like the story of the top 5, or even top 10. Lots of variance.

Well, some teams LOVE him (Top5) and some teams only LIKE him (outside Top10) and it seems to be a 50/50 split. Maybe the Yotes know that they love Nemec and not everyone does and they’re confident they can get him anywhere in the Top5 right now.

At this point, I want Cooley and hope that bastard grows to 5'11 at least.

He has 2 brothers
23yr old at 5'9''
21yr old at 6'1''

Let's hope since he's already at 5'10, that he gets closer to the 6'1'' if we happen to get to pick him.

This makes me want to trade Chychrun to CBJ for a package including 1 or both of their 1st rounders....

I really like Cooley. Solid in all zones, great skater that gets up to speed quickly. Creative offensive upside and seems comfortable with the puck.
He looked bigger than his listed size at the All-American game. Even plays physical, he dumped Rutger Mcgroarty on his ass along the boards once. Just fun to watch.

I've heard some analytic issues with Nemec(scouching). Like really bad defensively. He still has him i think at 9 though.
