I found this if anyone is interested. One of our third round picks would be perfect (value) to move up, say, from #20 to #12 to grab Knight in the first round.

Don't forget that it takes two to tango and I don't see Sakic being aggressive enough to pursue this. It's possible that Knight will still be available wherever we pick though. It's also very possible that we trade this pick for immediate help.

Outside the top two I think he has the highest ceiling. He has IQ, Soft creative hands, vision, Size, defensive awareness and honestly I think his skating is good but others disagree. There is slight concern about his compete level but I think its overblown and he can find more consistency through refining his habits off ice.

I agree with this...Dach isn’t my personal choice at 3/4 but no reason he shouldn’t be in the mix and I think his upside is higher than Cozens.

If we have to pick 3/4 I think you can pretty easily rationalize any of Dach, Cozens, Turcotte or Byram. The wild cards would be if somebody gets enamored with Zegras or Krebs in terms of quicker, high IQ playmakers or are willing to take the risk/wait with Podkolzin.

AVs are drafting 16th (depending on playoff performance). Knight is expected to fall into the low teens. Doubtful and risky for any team to choose a Goalie in the Top 10.

Here are my projections for the range of 11-15 prior to the AVs pic:

11 - MIN (doubtful - rebuilding likely FWD)
12 - CHI (doubtful - Delia/Gravel)
13 - FL (doubtful - Bobrovsky/Varly UFA targets)
14 - AZ (yes - few prospects and need for depth)
15 - MTL (no - Price signed long term)

I suspect Knight could be available with the AVs pick, unnecessary to trade for a higher position when realistically AZ might be the only team interested.

I wonder what kind of drugs, or most likely, combination of several drugs, the maker of this was on.

According to this chart, the #20 and #61 (it isn't updated to 31 teams) should get you the #6 pick!
Realistically, those two picks MIGHT get you to #17, maybe #16 if you're in luck with your tango-partner.

This chart isn't even grain-of-salt-worthy, imho.

Yeah, I agree with this. Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Especially if we end up drafting Byram.

If we're targeting Knight, then I wouldn't see the need to trade up from #16, either. One thing, though; With all the action going on in Florida now with Q, I fully expect them to sign both Bob/Panarin AND it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they trade their 1st for immediate help on D. Like 1st + Hoffman for a D or 1st + a whole lot more for Trouba.

Not sure what your saying. He says they are both elite prospects and have a chance at #1 and there are scouts that have Kaako first. Which we haven't heard from anyone else.

I don't have a problem with Hughes or anyone ranking him first. I just don't agree with people that say it's an open in and shut case. Its definitely close and I think will be close for a very long time. I don't see this as Matthews/Laine.

Not saying anything... just posting the report from the same person on the other guy for that spot so people can read that too.

I think it might be something to do with the fact that he has been leading this Hughes 100% sure 1OA talk all season long.

I'm more disappointed that we are potentially going to draft someone who won't step right in the NHL even if he will be a A+ prospect. Waiting another year or two like Makar is going to suck.

Maybe...however, as a counter-point, when we start feeling the crunch of the cap we'll have a solid, top notch prospect beginning on an ELC. This might actually be a needed safety valve depending on how things go with signing Barrie (which I still want to do) and the terms on Rants new contract (which will be deservedly large).

It could give us some options in the future which is never a bad thing. If I'm Sakic, I would now feel more at ease moving into FA depending on who he drafts. This could very well be a blessing in disguise.
