Pretty sure the lineup will look something like this.

Lucic-Krejci-Eriksson
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Kelly-Soderberg-Fraser
Paille-Campbell-Florek
Spooner

Chara/Hamilton
Seidenberg/Boychuk
Miller/Krug
McQuaid

Rask
Svedberg

***Personally I put Spooner on that 3rd line and drop Kelly to the 4th line to create a highly effective 4th unit checking line that can play other team's top 2 lines. This also makes the 3rd line more offensive. You can always put Kelly back on the 3rd line or shorten the bench if you are late in games and holding a lead or worried about the defensive abilities of that 3rd line. Pretty sure though the lines above are what we will see.***

Well, let me waive my magic wand and replace Kelly with Florek.

Somehow, I feel Marchand might get the axe in the end. Gut feeling.

I personally don't think so. With the way the team is looking now, Marchand is our best goal scorer.

I see Boychuk, it's looking like he's going to get PAID...overtime after next season. Look at that Orpik deal, 5.5 mill. JB is twice the defenseman that softee is. I'd say he's pushing 6 mill maybe more.

We have a lot of players to sign, looking at some big deals. Dougie, Soderberg, Krejci, Paille (Very important, hopefully at same price), and some RFA's. Campbell walks. Who knows maybe there is room for Johnny Boy, but not sure.

Win now window is closing every year with the god Chara. We need some scoring, and 55 may be the candidate to trade for the best return...

Then, at the deadline, pick up a solid defensemen to take some minutes off the big guy.

Okay, so you move Boychuk pretty much for cash...who is on the second pair?

McQuaid? The Bruins have never shown interest in that. He's always been D pair 3. Doubt it.

Miller? People went from loving the guy to hating him after a poor playoffs. I think he'll be fine...but not on D pair 2, he's penned-in D pair 3.

Bart? You wanna see people's heads explode around here?! No.

Replacing Boychuk with anything D pair 2 half decent is hard..."*cough* porn hard"...haha...

It makes throwing in Fraser on an important line look like a walk in the park.

The D goes from awesome, to flawed in one move.

No thanks. I'd take it off the table.

Maybr the B's can be ready to move Boychuk in the future, as you say, but not now. It's gonna take some time and planning.

Nah read again. Only way I trade JB is for a top 6. Otherwise screw that. McQuaid wouldn't be the worst option if need be.

I personally agree about McQuaid, just doubt the Bruins do.

So, first off, we're still getting rid of Boychuk mainly for money, right?

We'd be shooting for a top 6 guy at around 1.5 million or less...or why bother?

That's gonna be tough.

Get right to work on that, Chia.

Nahh, look elsewhere.

Eh, maybe Kelly could be a throw in. That would be 6.3 mill. But, yea your right. It might be worth keeping Boychuk around.

The Valley of Pioneers
Lucic - Krejci - Eriksson

Marchand - Bergeron - Soderberg

Paille - Spooner - Smith

Florek - Campbell - Fraser

Defense is pretty easy to figure out for now

I know soderberg excels at center but right now we are weak on the wings and his taken is best utilized in a top 6 role imo but I won't complain if he's status quo and putting up points

Kelly is in there somewhere if he ever plays again

We'll see how certain players do at camp ...

We are quite overloaded with lefties at forward how many can play on the right? Eriksson and Smith for sure then Marchand? Fraser? Florek? Paille has played a few games there IIRC

That is kind of intriguing. It looks like we are going to be making a spot for Spooner this year no matter what happens and I would rather just plug him in as the 3rd line center than anything else. I HATE the idea of playing him on the fourth line. I think I would swap Loui and Soda though. I don't think he has the D chops to play on Bergy's line really and his style may gel with Lucic and Krejci a bit more.

Lucic/Krejci/Soda
Marchand/Bergy/Eriksson
Paille/Spooner/Smith
Florek/Campbell/Fraser
Robbins
When Kelly returns, I slot him in at 3LW and drop Paille to the 4th. Florek can go back to Providence so he keeps getting regular ice time.

This is really where we stand:

Lucic - Krejci - Eriksson
Marchand - Bergeron - Smith
? - Soderberg - ?
Paille - Campbell - ?

Chara - Hamilton
Seidenberg - Boychuk
Krug - Miller

Rask - Svedberg

Questions are:

Who fills in the missing winger spots?

Who becomes the 13th forward?

Who becomes the 7th defenseman? Assuming Warsofsky here.

Who is really ready to make the move to the NHL from the AHL?

I am assuming Kelly, McQuaid, Bartkowski, Caron are on the trading block.

Soderberg is blind in his left eye. Putting him on the right would probably be extremely uncomfortable for him as he's going to have a real hard time seeing the ice.

You know what I'm excited about?

Something like this:

Spooner - Soderberg - Knight

The first line does its thing. The Bergy line suffocates and then embarrasses you. And then the third line just CRUSHES teams with its absurd speed and creativity.

I'm not attempting to start a debate about whether or not Knight is ready or has "earned" or Spooner on the wing or blah blah blah. What I'm saying is that instead of plugging whoever is left over into that third line, the Bruins COULD forge something with identity that at worst would be interesting to watch and at best be an effective unit.

Maybe this is the year they take a guy who perhaps isn't quite ready, but who comes in and impresses with just the skillset he possesses. Makes a case for himself like Krug did in the post-season of 2013. Maybe patience can go **** itself for one season and we can have some fun watching the kids come in and strut their stuff a bit?

In fact, I'd say that enthusiasm is the only way we can expect to avoid "bridge" year.

here's an idea kind of out of left field:
Lucic-Soderberg-Krejci
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Fraser-Spooner-Loui
Paille-Campbell-Knight

It would be kind of interesting to see how this experiment pans out. A couple years ago when Krejci was in a slump Claude put him on the wing to get him out of it. He could give us a right handed option on the wing if they wanted to try this out.

Meanwhile I thought Loui and Spooner looked really good together the couple times they played together last year.

I'd be ok with that third line. If Spooner doesn't get dealt, he is without a doubt going to be the Yeti's winger. Chiarelli even said he'd try it out. I like the idea of Knight too, I'd try it why not. Speed kills.

i have no idea why chia wont at least sign mueller...guy will cost nothing, is a right hand shot and would slot in nicely beside soderberg.

Lucic Krejci Eriksson - slowest 1st line in the league but whatever
Marchand Bergeron Smith - worked last year even though Smith is a 3rd liner
Soderberg Spooner Mueller - this would be a fast, skilled line
Kelly Campbell Paille
