    Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
    Pony trekking or camping,
    Or just watching TV.
    Finland, Finland, Finland.
    It's the country for me.

    You're so near to Russia,
    So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
    Lots of miles from Vietnam.

    Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
    Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
    Finland, Finland, Finland.
    Finland has it all.
    You're so sadly neglected
    And often ignored,
    A poor second to Belgium,
    When going abroad.

    Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
    Your mountains so lofty,
    Your treetops so tall.
    Finland, Finland, Finland.
    Finland has it all.

tha'ts the preliminary roster or training camp, those guys will play switzerland and compete for spots.

confirmed participants but not in those games:
    Olli Jokinen
    Kimmo Timonen

Kiprusoff declined an invitation as did Berg, Lydman and Koivu.

That list is like that because a lot of players are still involved in the SM-Liiga finals (Kärpät: Niinimaa, Viuhkola, J Jokinen, Jokerit: Filppula, Väänänen etc)

I'd expect the team to change quite a lot and start taking shape only about 2 weeks from now.

I think that eventually it'd be like Hentunen-Kapanen-Halh or Nieminen. Pärssinen could make it but something says to me that he wont, call it gut feeling.

Haven't heard anything about Markkanen,Noronen or Nurminen. Lehtonen won't be available (AHL playoffs) I'd expect one of those three (hopefully Pasi) to be the started, and another to bump Lassila off the roster (Norrena will make it)

Väänänen, Timonen, Niinimaa , maybe Salo would give us 3-4 good NHL dmen, if Karalahti finds his form that'd be one more. The others, hmm, do well in europe but either too old or too "european" to cross the pond.

Only star forward or star potential forward is OJ, hopefully Miettinen and Mikko Koivu from the AHL will be available, we could use them. The rest are good energy guys and very good for their role. Hentunen is one who I dont understand not being in the NHL. He's great, but not a star.
Jussi Jokinen will hopefully make it to showcase a future star.
Havent heard about Hagman, he could be useful.

What about Peltonen ? Quite surprising to see him out of the roster considering he's been a regular on team Finland for the past 10 years.

Nevermind, I found out he was injured. Any chance he recovers before the start of the tournament ?

This roster officially sucks ass, especially upfront.

Miettinen won't make it, Hamilton is hot right now and will make the play-offs.

The good news is, whatever the composition of the roster, Finland always plays it tough and on many occasions finds a way to win. I would expect nothing less with this team.

I took one look at all the posted team rosters today and thought "Dear God, Its worse than I feared"
Well, if nothing else, Russia should be interesting to watch. Hopefully.

Koivu probably wont be there either, as Houston is most likely going to make the playoffs as well.

Where are the ex-NHL Finnish goaltenders? I was expecting to see maybe Markkanen, Noronen or Toskala etc...Ok, maybe not Noronen, given his recent play for Leijonat, but still...

It is good to see that they are giving Lassila a shot though

Off-topic, but I see that you hail from Paavola, Michigan. That happens to be my surname, and as lots of Finns emigrated to Michigan there might some distant relatives of mine living there.

what kind of role is Immonen expected to fill?

It seems he needs to be on the top 2 lines to really utilize his skills, but always ends up getting pushed down the lineup thanks to NHLers and such (in previous tournaments this year, so I've heard)

It'd be nice if he was used as more than just a checker

What's wrong with Niinimaa? He is a solid defenceman, and we really do need him in this competition if we are to have any kind of chance.
