I agree with the general sentiment in many of these posts... Even though I think Makar might already be Canada's best defenseman, he would be used in a #7/pp specialist role. Team Canada brass is notoriously conservative and prefer steady, reliable, and known-entities. We're talking about a program that brought Kris Draper & Shane Doan over Sidney Crosby & prime Eric Staal in '06.
Fairly confident Canadian coaches would rely heavily on Pietrangelo, Parayko, Weber, and yes, Drew Doughty with Hamilton, Makar...and not sure who else rounding it out, maybe Gio or Chabot.
Side note: I genuinely think Doughty could be our best Dman in a short, best-on-best tourney. Too early to write him off
