With the trade deadline not too far away and the fact that Powers is saying everyone besides Kane, Toews, and Jones are available it's time to throw some offers out there and have some fun with it!

Fleury 50% retained to WSH
for
Lapierre or 2022 1st Rd pick

Kubalik and Strome to CGY
for
Monahan and Nikolayev

Murphy and Lankinen to TOR
for
Mrazek (cap dump), Ritchie (cap dump), Amirov, Knies

Beaudin to TB
for Finley

DeHann to NSH
for
Afanasyev and Grimaldi (cap dump)

Strome and Kubalik will be traded i think. They're both RFA's who the Hawks might be hesitant to give new deals to. I'm not sure on the retention rules exactly but if they retain 50% on Strome and Kubalik that'd be a pretty awesome TDL pickup for a lot of teams. 2 good depth players for $3.6M

Think one of these retention spots will be used for Fleury assuming he goes.

I agree. I’ll be surprised if either are Hawks after the TDL.

Guessing de Haan goes too. He could be a decent 4/5 addition for a contender.

Would love to see the Flower traded for whatever and then resign with The Hawks in the off season.
Flower is the Hawks hottest ticket, however he controls where he goes.

Kane stays (nobody is touching $10.5 cap hit)
Toews stays (nobody is touching $10.5 cap hit)
DeBrincat stays (best player)
Hagel stays (2nd best player)
Kubalik stays (RFA)
Kurashev stays (RFA)
Dach stays (RFA cheap bridge)
Lafferty stays (good bottom six plug)
Entwistle stays ($800K bottom 6)
Khaira stays (cheap bottom 6)
Borgstrom stays (rookie $1M)

Connolly bye bye ( sack of pucks)
Strome bye bye (hat trick upped his price)
Gabriel (GTFO)
Hardman bye bye

S Jones stays (obviously)
C Jones stays (RFA cheap bridge contract)
McCabe stays
Stillman stays (signed already)
Murphy stays (unless you can get a defensive upgrade or lotsa picks)
Kalnyuk stays (RFA)

Gus bye bye (for the right price)
DeHaan bye bye (interested to see what he fetches)

Lankinen stays (sign him before season ends)

Keep all the prospects in Rockford.

MAF has been terrific and I respect him all the more for busting his ass for this awful team. The whole team should emulate his effort. That said, I don’t see why he’d want to re-sign here.

Think they end up moving some players that should be kept around simply to regain future assets that Stan moved to acquire Jones...if they move Kubalik then so be it, theres merit to extending him and trading him, Strome is probably good as gone and not returning much more than a 3rd, and maybe they move Hagel if the return is very good but there is argument that he shouldn't be moved at all, Flower probably goes for the return Lehner got

Just read a quip in the bleacher report that Toronto is interested in deHaan.
I’m guessing that is with retention. MAF will also be with retention. So Strome and Kubalik will be at full price or involving a 3rd party.
I’d rather keep both. Strome is a mid level 2nd line C. But with Dach busting he’s the best they got right now.
Kubs has a great snip you like to keep.

Lol CDH would tank Toronto so I hope they do it.

I posted this in the “where are they headed” thread but the Kuzmenko talk has me intrigued. If they land him getting rid of kubalik to recoup some decent assets does make sense

I swear to god if we trade Hagel I’m gonna lose it.
Depends what we get back.

Hagel is a f***ing steal at $1.5m, but he's only signed for that for 2 seasons after this one. Who knows if his next contract will be half the deal this current one is. And the Hawks, as currently constructed, won't be doing too much the next few seasons, so those years where he's signed dirt cheap won't help much.

Which is better, us keeping him these next few years and then re-signing him for $5m per or us trading him and getting, let's say, a 1st and solid prospect coming back?

So again, depends what we get back.

Might we consider Hagel + Murphy for Knies + 1st? Something in that range?

Something in that range, sure.

But I don't know that Toronto is looking at Dmen with long term deals. Haven't kept up with their cap situation, but don't know that they can take on $4m per for the next few seasons.

They only player I would keep on this team would be Cat. If a team offers the right value for a player they should be traded. This team is at least three years from being competitive and that’s with good drafting.
