I'm shocked by some of the proposals with Miller, and yes as someone that watched him play for 5 years and has watched him on TB, I think the stat watching is fueling this inflated value. I'm just quite certain if he's actually traded the acquiring team will see the same thing with his time in NY and TB. Nothing against JT but he floats and doesn't bring the effort on a consistent basis to warrant his contract, especially in the playoffs. FYI his 2016 season was largely a product of Grabner and Hayes and it quickly disappeared in the playoffs.

He's been great in Tampa Bay, was having himself a hell of a season before getting hurt. Was playing third line minutes and getting 1st line production and his effort has been there most of the time.

Hes been good here. Has slotted up and down the lineup and has produced. Id like to keep him but we have to shed salary for next year. We might just trade him after the seasons over because he brings a bigger body for the playoffs.

You need to watch him. The guy is a horse and if moved will fetch more than a 2.

He's having a great year! It's just that Gudas was never a solid NHLer prior to this year, i have a hard time thinking he will follow up again next year. If I remember correctly, Philly hated him last year.

I have my doubts!

Every year except last year he was a solid NHLer. Last year he was having trouble finding the balance of his meanstreak with the new "dont touch anybody ever" rules. Other than that, hes played exceptionally well. Im not going to dig, but i believe when Tampa traded him to us, a lot of their members on this board were disppointed because they expected Radko to become what Coburn was.

That's actually not true. Gudas had a pretty decent run playing for Tampa a few years back and became a fan favorite. Some of us would be thrilled to have him back. Having Gudas on one D pairing and Cernak on the second is a definite upgrade in toughness.

You know, that Gudas @ 50% and Simmonds for Raddysh, Miller and a 2nd is a damn fine deal.

I'm shocked it came from this board.

Someone get the paperwork drawn up and inform the players.
I’m fine with that. Helps out both teams. Miller is a good M6, maybe 3rd like option for the flyers. He’s able to shelter some responsibility for Lindblom which is what we want. Raddysh is a more NHL ready player that won’t fit in Tampa’s stacked team. They need role players more so in the playoffs and Raddysh doesn’t really fit with that Erne - Paquette - Joesph/Callahan type. I think Raddysh may find his way into the lineup. Lineup for flyers next year:

Giroux - Couturier - Konecny
JVR - Patrick - Voracek
Miller/Lindblom - Frost - Miller/Lindblom
NAK/Raddysh - Laughton - NAK/Raddysh

Provorov - X/Sanheim/Ghost
Sanheim/Ghost - Myers
Ghost/Morin - Ghost/Hagg

Hagg

Hart
Stolarz/X

Those X marks are possible FA. I like that lineup. That 3rd line looks pretty complete and Miller helps out a lot.

I think that’s fair for both sides. We can even retain on Simmonds too.

Why are so many Tampa fans wanting to swap Miller for Simmonds? That is a bad deal for us, we are basically downgrading at forward to add a little more bite with Simmonds. And Gudas isn't worth a 2nd + prospect. Our PK isn't great as it is, with him we'd be on the PK and extra 2min a game with all the stupid penalties he takes. We got rid of him for a reason, don't want him back.

I think it's mostly just one person who wants to do that.

Wasn't getting Coburn the real reason, rather than Gudas' style of play?

The Miller for Simmonds swap is only because we are going to need to move some salary and Miller's a likely candidate to get moved. I know Gudas loses his composure sometimes but, I'm sorry, he's an upgrade over Girardi in my book.

We can move that salary in the off-season and get a much better deal. Miller is a better player than Simmonds, he's just not as physical but still is a bit physical, yet he can't get out of the bottom 6. Why bring in Simmonds to do the same and probably produce even less? His playoff results the past few years aren't even an upgrade over Miller's poor playoffs.

Sure Gudas is an upgrade over Girardi but this trade isn't Girardi + for Gudas. If that was the deal I'd do it depending on the +. In this deal we are bringing in Gudas with Girardi still so we are wasting Girardi. We also have a better and younger Gudas in Cernak who doesn't play every night. I don't see Gudas as a big enough improvement over Girardi to give up assets for.

Your points are well-taken. Perhaps I am a little over-reactive to the Leafs making a trade for Muzzin combined with the horrific performance from Girardi last night. I would trade Girardi but i think he's got a NMC and I don't think anyone would take him lol. So, to remedy that, I would bring in Gudas and sit Girardi in the press box for the rest of the year, unless there was an injury. He should be encased in a glass box that says "Break only in the event of an emergency".

We can still keep Girardi in the press box and not have to bring anyone in. Just Cooper is an idiot and wants to make everyone happy so he keeps rotating a few guys instead of sticking with the best 6. Gudas is an upgrade on Girardi but is he that much on Coburn? Coburn has had some rough patches but he's having a really good year and bringing in another D just scratches him. We need someone who's clearly a tier above Coburn which I don't think Gudas is.

Yzerman has never made a trade for someone that he did not intend on keeping around, just something to keep in mind now that JBB has taken over.

Simmonds, Gudas (50% retention on Gudas next year)

for

JT Miller + Ryan Callahan + 2019 3rd (our 2019 2nd is committed to the Rags unless we win the cup and it then becomes a 1st) + Raddysh or Katchouk

Notice, I am trying to get all of our business done in one deal. :D

Remove the 3rd and add Gabriel Fortier instead and it's a deal.

Simmonds, Gudas (50% retained)

Miller, Callahan, Fortier, Raddysh

No.

Philly has no incentive to take a cap dump(Callahan) and I don't think they want to take on 5 million Miller despite some a Flyers fans on here being ok with it.

I think they prefer to keep the cap space, and go after a UFA this summer.

Plus, the Flyers could get more selling these 2 separately. If we are selling both, I want 1 good piece coming back.

If you want to slash the money, then I'd go Ferland and Hayden Fluery, for JT Miller and TB's 1st in 2020 and Gabriel Fortier.

This is really not what we've seen in TB. He's played well. My only complaint is he definitely became more of a perimeter player in the playoffs, much like NYR fans predicted. But his regular season play has been in line with what we'd hoped he'd be. Definitely a $5m player, at least in the regular season. His playoff performances are definitely concerning though.

lol could you imagine how hard TB HFboards would crash if we landed TVR. It might be broken for a while.
Joking aside, I think it works the best for our roster right now. TMFVR is an experienced RHD, won the cup with Chicago against us in 2015. He isn't flashy but he is a solid bottom pairing defenseman. I love Ferland's game from his days in Calgary. Brings size, grit, and decent offensive touch. Him and Paquette on a line would be fantastic.

I am actually with Hose on Simmonds not being a good fit for us. Will always have a special place in my heart for Gudas.
