Aftonbladet reporting that Doug Murray :handclap: and Magnus Johansson :shakehead will be on the roster. Also, Stefan Liv.

http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockeybladet/os2010/article6343349.ab

Seriously, BÃ…G. Johansson couldn't cut it in the NHL playing against 3rd liners. He's 180 lbs. Guys like Ovechkin and Getzlaf are going to eat him alive. :help:

Edit: With that in mind, I'm predicting this roster:

01 Stefan Liv
35 Henrik Lundqvist
50 Jonas Gustavsson

02 Mattias Öhlund
03 Douglas Murray
04 Tobias Enström
05 Nicklas Lidström (C)
06 Magnus Johansson
07 Niklas Kronwall
29 Johnny Oduya

09 Loui Eriksson
10 Alexander Steen
11 Daniel Alfredsson (A)
12 Daniel Sedin
19 Nicklas Bäckström
20 Henrik Sedin
21 Peter Forsberg
23 Linus Omark
26 Samuel PÃ¥hlsson
37 Mikael Samuelsson
40 Henrik Zetterberg (A)
80 Mattias Weinhandl
96 Tomas Holmström

Chemistry is key on my team Sweeden:

Eriksson - Backstrom - Alfredsson (?)
D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Samuelsson
Zetterburg - Franzen (?)- Holmstrom
Sjostrom -Pahlsson - Bergfors
Forsberg (wishful thinking)

Lidstrom - Kronwall
Hedman - Ohlund
Enstrom - Edler
Hjalmarsson

Lundqvist
Gustavsson
Hedberg

I am 100% sure that if Ken Holland was the GM and Mike Babcock the coach of the Florida Panthers -- Magnus Johansson would be their nr 1 D today.

He wasn't given a new contract for one reason and and one reason only -- his age.

Several times when I saw him in Florida he played awesome hockey and was their best D. IMO, not giving him a contract is one of the worst GMing decisions I've seen in the NHL the last 3 years, and their have been plenty of thoose.

M Johansson is a decent "QB" defensmen, god at keeping the puck within the blue line for example. He's a liablity defensively, so hopefully he will play with a large stay at home defensmen.

Let's assume the defence looks like this, when M.Johansson got a spot.

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Murray-Johansson

Enstrom-Ohlund

That means he thinks that M.Johansson is better than Hjalmarsson, Edler, Hedman, Stralman, Ericsson, Tallinder, Johnsson, Grossman and Oduya.

M.Johansson even got dominated in the recent cup in Russia, with only players from Europe... just imagine him facing Canadians and Russians from the NHL...:shakehead

If Mange Johansson really is in the team, and i don't trust Aftonblaskan one bit, i guess BÃ…G has the plan to use him as an PP specialist in the tournament.
He is the best offensive right shooting D we have in Sweden so if he is used correctly i'm not worried. He proabably shouldn't see much icetime outside the PP against the better teams in the tournament though, he does have problems against bigger players at times.

Kim Johnsson already declined. But the rest... ouch... I think Edler will make it though as he must pick seven defenseman. Magnus Johansson shouldn't be in the Olympics obviously, but to tell the truth: BÃ…G won't use him as a reserve since he likes him so much. Well he will eventually when he realizes his mistake in picking him. Hopefully we can have a coach who has some insight in the NHL in the future.

I absolutely do not want to have Edler on the team. He just isnt going to bring anything when Magnus Johansson is on the team. The selection of Johansson is questionable to say the least but it's not the end of the world. He is usually very good on the national team and I think he will be it this time around aswell.

I think I also read somewhere that he would intend to have 8 defensemen.

While I don't think Johansson is bad, I think we need to limit his 5vs5 time. I think he doesn't shine against physically strong players.

He does have considerable offensive skill and is great at holding the blue line.

We need one super line with defensively gifted players, that can take care of the other teams first line.

Franzen-Zetterberg-Alfredsson

It's kinda ironic that the whole line is injured right now.:help:

Second line, or 1B.
Best playmaker of the past and the best playmaker of today, paired with a hard working 2-way forward with sniping skills. Weinhandl will get booted to the energy line if he won't produce, and Eriksson will come up.

Forsberg-Backstrom-Weinhandl

1C
Can't imagine a better fit for the Sedins, a guy that parks infront of the net and waits for a re-direct or rebound, Homer is also a pretty good along the boards. Eriksson will also take some shifts with the twins, giving him more ice-time, while limiting Homers - who will have most of his ice-time during pp.

Holmstrom-Sedin-Sedin

4:th
Putting Eriksson there since he's a hard working 2 way forward with sniping skills, this way that line can contribute offensively aswell.

Eriksson-PÃ¥hlsson-Sjostrom

Franzen 17 min
Zetterberg 20
Alfredsson 20
Forsberg 14
Backstrom 20
Weinhandl 10
Holmstrom 10
Sedin 18
Sedin 18
Eriksson 15
PÃ¥hlsson 10
Sjostrom 8

180 minutes.

Absolutely. If BÃ…G picks 8 d's I don't think this will be a problem. His TOI will, hopefully, be limited to PPs and 5on5s vs. weaker teams.

Well... It could be worse than Johansson. Edler could be on the team and do only half as worse as last time he was around...

Weinhandl is an odd choice though.

not half as odd as stefan freaking liv. he was absolutely brutal the last time he played in NA. i mean, he's only the 3rd G, but considering the other options it's very odd. hedberg, tellqvist, even holmqvist would be better choices. i hope henrik stays healthy and liv is not even close to the bench.

Liv being there is probably because Tellan plays in SM-liiga; such a league cannot have good goaltending ;) :sarcasm:

i'm fine with punishing him for playing in such a crappy league. :D

but there's still hedberg and holmqvist who have both a way better record on small rinks. even ersberg, larsson, enroth i'd choose over liv. he might be an ok guy for the crappy euro tournament series, but olympics? meh.
