An article on La Presse said that 6 contracts were signed on the morning before arbitration, and that if the 2 parties feel they are close to an agreement, they can postpone the meeting by an hour or so to finalize an agreement.

There's still hope for a quick resolution.

There is not a more stupid human game than playing "chicken"

All players involved should just die for their moronness

Not sure if I heard right, but on the radio did they just say that the Habs have 48 hours after the hearing to sign a long term deal?

They have until decision has been made by the arbitrator.

Usually 1-2/days after the hearing

Waiting at the last second can work with bottom players...when in the end, you don't really care if you keep them or not and wanting to extract as much money is almost more important than the player himself.

But your star players? Should NEVER be like that.

As I said about 2 weeks ago: this is so going to arbitration.

Whoever says it's not a failure on management's part is out to lunch.

Is it 48 or 72 hours that both parties have to negociate after the hearing before the arbitrator?

What an absolute **** up. Burning bridges and bridge deals.

Totally worth the hold out to force a bridge deal.. A bridge deal to an arbitration hearing which are never pleasant.
