The Canucks have Nilsson turning UFA in July and at 2.5m for the year is a modest salary to fit in.
Otherwise if you can’t get Rinne signed Markstrom is signed through next season at 3.667m.

each wouldnt cost much more than a mid round pick.

Why not just sign Steve Mason. He has a proven track record, one year removed from being a low-end starter in the league and would most likely sign for under a mil who can help out the AHL team afterwards.

Grosenick deserves a chance.

He's the 2016-17 (the year before Sparks) Baz award winner as the AHL goalie of the year. And he's coming from an organization that's done a really great job recently of developing NHL calibre goaltenders. Or at least backups. Greiss (NYI), Stalock (MIN), and Dell (SJS) all came from the San Jose system.

What's the excuse for previous seasons where the Rangers had good teams? Won the Presidents Trophy in 2014-15, no? Finished 2nd a few years before that?

Those teams are not on the same level that nashville has, three norris worth dman on that team

Haha ok. So in order for Lundqvist to have success now he would need the best d in the league? None of this is relevant to the OP

Nobody even knows how long Rinne will be out. He might have had to go on IR just because the Preds had no one that was waiver exempt that they could send down to be able to bring up a backup.

This thread is based on a nonsense assumption.
