It's also why the Canes traded him. He was going to be stuck on the 3rd pair behind Hamilton and Pesce, so they moved him as an inefficiency. I don't get this for the Blues unless they're planning to ditch someone else.

One team's inefficiency is another team's depth :)

One can't argue that the team that just won the Stanley Cup has gotten quite a bit stronger.

The money is fine, but I'm not a fan of that term. I'm assuming that's where the point of contention between Faulk and Carolina was.

Yeah it’s weird. But this also reminds me that there was a rumor that we almost traded for Dougie Hamilton a year ago. As Blues fans we dismissed it because it made no sense but maybe it’s true and the only thing I can think of is that we either can’t or don’t want to re-sign Pietrangelo. But I have no idea why that would be the case.

Will be an interesting year in STL.

Why? I'm a bit confused by this move. Seeing what they gave up an extension did make sense in the future. Just, really didn't expect it.

With them having Parayko and AP27 already on right. Having a 27 year old RD (PP specialist) for 7 (28-35) years on the 3rd pairing doesn't make sense. Blues have to know something. Hmm...

Guess the Blues are really going for a repeat this year. Kudos to them. Intrigued what happens in free agency 2020.

That's a little rich for Faulk, and that's coming from someone who thinks his defensive shortcomings are overblown.
