It's the natural conclusion to the Chiarelli saga. I knew this was where this bus was headed (right into a tornado), but now there's not much that can be done but to weather the storm.

Oh, there is something that can be done to weather the storm but won't be done. Firing Chia alone doesn't put the Oilers in the clear, not by a longshot.

Pittsburgh proved that 30 years ago. Until they built a virtual All-Star team around Lemieux they never went anywhere. How this franchise thought that low skill players like Lucic and Larsson were how you build around a player like McDavid is honestly mind boggling.

Crazy how comparable these two teams are. Looking back, I didn't realise the Pens missed the playoffs so much in Mario's first eight years there.

We need to draft McDavid a Jagr.

one more season like this and the rumours will really start to heat up

your Edmonton Oilers, where even McDavid can't save the organization from gross incompetence

That's the risk you take when you want to let a GM that has a lot of red flags dither for an extended period of time.

This. Definitely a shot across the bow from mcdavid

Bobby Burger needs to be fired tmrw. This lays at his feet for this deterioration of this roster

Tambo? Mact? Chia?

They're all stupid, but this particular version of the McDavid-era Oilers is that last guy. He wanted this style of team and he built exactly what he wanted.

And that's what you get when your GM has no respect for skill or speed in a hockey roster.

Didn't see the game.

One of the lucky ones I guess.

But very honoured to have tuned in to GDT and witness more of Dels' mastery.

If McDavid leaves IMO hiring Chiarelli will be the biggest mistake in franchise history.

Yes, above trading Gretzky. At least they got 4 Cups out of Gretzky and managed to win one without him anyway.

If you lose a player of McDavid's talent without even getting anything great done, that is an absolute failure and we are in this spot because of this moron GM's team building philosophy.

Now the new GM is under tremendous pressure with not much cap space for next year and not much in the way of tradable assets.

McDavid needs to scare Katz. He’s the best thing that happened to the Oilers since Gretzky, Katz dopey friends don’t matter compared to him. Scare that clown into finally changing things up in a meaningful way. This is beyond ridiculous.
