They could have gotten something from Boston or another team at the trade deadline before they shutdown for the virus but they didn't want to trade him, I guess. So I said they wasted a trade. The Devils aren't going to play hockey for some 300+ days, so I expect much of the same from them as far as being noncompetitive when their season starts and for the next season. Therefore a draft pick in my mind would have been better and I know they didn't know the league would shut down at the time, so I took some editorial liberties.
