Starting a franchise from scratch: Elias Pettersson or Seth Jones

Who would you choose if you were a team like Seattle starting from scratch?

Pettersson is a 21 year old centre and Jones is a 25 year old defenceman.

I would normally go for the younger center without much hesitation, but Jones has such a tremendous individual influence on the Blue Jackets that he makes this a difficult choice.

He is 21. Draisaitl at 21 was career sub-PPG. Pastrnak at 21 was career sub-PPG.

Pettersson has 126 points in 133 games. That gives him a career 0.947 PPG. He is 7 points off PPG when most young players are way further off. No one drafted from 2017 onwards is PPG yet.

Pettersson is 4 years younger as well. Easy pick for me.

EP is only scratching the surface on his potential. This kid isn't any ordinary #1C, he has the potential to be a top 3C in the game but he needs to work on his skating - similarly to how Drai did after he was drafted. Jones is amazing so this was really close for me.

Went with EP.
