I believe they are employed by the NHL or at least NHL teams. It’s why venue adjustments are applied to certain stats.

I heard each team employs stat counters. It should be done during and after games to ensure accuracy.

These conspiracy theories are ridiculous- no the refs are not out to get the Jets, if you go on the board of any team the fans think that the refs are against them. And no the Preds shot totals don't look good because of "homer counting", "homer counting" might explain a couple of shots here or there but not the wide disparity we saw, neither is there any evidence that Preds shot counters are cheating based on their regular season numbers.

That's a pretty hard argument to make when Nashville doesn't get a single penalty when they should have had multiple.

There may not be a bias. But I can confirm with my own eyes that shot counters were wrong. We still lagged behind even so but it's not as bad as the official stats would have you believe.

No, lots of penalties not called on the Piss Tigers. To be expected really.

Jets will have to beat not on the Predators but the **** officiating as well. Pretty well standard.

I believe Bettman is trying hard to sell the game in the US, and I commend him for a job well done over the last 12-15 years, whether I like him or not.

Considering from what I've heard sportscasters say--that the Preds were one of the most "penalized" teams this year, and not one penalty to them all night vs Jets ???

It makes you wonder if Bettman has informed officials at the top level to be extra hard on the Jets ?? I hate to think this way, but keeping the NHL playoffs in big market cities in the US-- brings in a lot more advertising money $$$ into the NHL headquarters. I really would like to believe this "cannot be true" ??? If it is--it's an atrocity !!!

GNP'S -3 Stars for the JETS

1) Hellybuyck -- 47 saves-- how can one dispute this ?

2) Ehlers --led some beautiful end to end rushes that resulted in goals

3) Enstrom-- played a great tight game -- maybe tied with Nikky for 2nd star ?

Honourable mention

Buff, Tanev, Little and Scheiffle all played really well, and Wheeler not to bad.

NOTE-- we really need Joel Armia back in the lineup for puck possession and defensive zone exits out of our end.

Question: Did all those great 80's teams really get swept in the 2nd round?

Also, I thought the 92-93 Jets team made it to the 2nd round? (Teemu's rookie season).

When the past playoff failures are laid out like that, it really puts what we are currently going through into perspective.

Why does everyone keep on staying we got out corsi'd, but nothing being mentioned on the xG? Yea I totally agree that being out corsi'd like that isn't a recipe for success, but those shots they took were complete garbage...

I just feel they were hoping for a bounce with those shots compared to what we did and get to those spots that gave us the better chances...

But that's just me...

Ouch.

At least we appeared in the playoffs a lot back then. Those were some good teams...none of them came remotely close to the present one though. Now is a good time to be a Jets fan!

Not only did they have our number, but as has been pointed out, they usually beat us in exactly the same way we beat Nashville yesterday, especially in games at the Winnipeg Arena. I remember those years very clearly, and the Oilers almost never outshot us or had an edge in puck possession in playoff games in Winnipeg...and yet they almost always won.

That’s why my reaction to people saying how badly the Jets were outplayed yesterday is to roll my eyes. Sure, if that’s what gets you through the night, go right on believing that. I don’t care, and more importantly, neither do the Jets.

How much are the refs paying you to post this? I can't believe you sold us out like that, you bastard!

Preds feasted on so many teams with that strategy: cycle it to the point and fire it through a sea of legs. It works, that's why they do it. Jets can't let that volume of shots get through because sooner or later they will get some deflections/bounces/tips.

Having said that, Hellebuyck looks like he sees everything just fine. There was a camera shot on the NBC feed showing what a shooter is looking at when they look at the Jets net. I didn't realize just how damn big Helle looks in the net. There is nothing to shoot at. He has an upperbody that is shaped like a big piece of plywood. Don't remember the last time I saw a goalie look so confident too. Especially in a Jets net.
