Great road trip and might well have been the best team in this game. Some of the plays like the late one by Pettersson and Joshua reflected a tried team. Not sure the over time selection of players made good sense. Blueger was their best center and might have seen time. One thing for sure is they needed to be better on face-offs in OT.

Good

Boeser - to me, that was the best this player has looked. Had to look twice to see if that's really Boeser. Shots appears to have returned suggesting his wrist has improve. Looked like the old Boeser shot. If he keeps this up he do should begin to do much better with shots from the slot on the PP. But most importantly he didn't seem to be struggling to stay in the play. Wasn't like he was always straining to get up to speed. Much more pop in his stride.

Hronek - very good at getting to the puck and clearing his zone. Not sure he has done much to help the PP (which is in a little bit of disarray) but he was strong in every other facet of the game. Thought both him and Hughes had strong games and were at times super dominant in the offensive zone. Some of those shifts were just magical.

Myers - strongest of the his combo with Zadorov. Actually was carrying the puck with authority out of his zone and did good job of handling the Dallas speed.

Garland - first star. Unlike the other night Joshua got the puck over to Garland and Garland, of course, set him up cold on the open side. Garland was just all over the ice and I think the key to the play of the third line. Wish it was Garland breaking in with Joshua in the OT.

Joshua - turning into a stud. His game is getting stronger and stronger. Almost expect him to score. Another very good job on the PK and 5 on 5.

Hoglander - just a bull along the end boards and getting better at getting the puck out. He is improving in the kind of things Tocchet wants and in this game was actaully covering back for some of the mistakes of others. Hoping he can build on what he is doing and have a strong second half

Micheyev - not much offensively but he was using his speed to back check effectively and to get the puck smoothly through the neutral zone. Important that he can start to become a bigger factor offensively and this game showed some signs he might.

Not so Good

Cole - not terrible but lugging some and not getting to places fast enough. Game was played at high speed and at times Cole was having some trouble reacting.

Aman - Dallas used their home advantage to attack the Aman line and the Canucks were largely hemmed in their own end when the Aman line was out. Would maybe have moved Lafferty back to center and double shifted someoone on the wing b/c Aman was not able to get any kind of forecheck going consistently or get the puck out of his zone. Would bring back Kuz to play with Pettersson and get Suter back to the 4th line center position.

Others

Demko - last two goals especially were not great. Second best goalie in this game.

Miller - looked tired and played erratically. Did not look like he should have been out in OT. Seemed to be fighting it in this game.

Pettersson - getting to be the most frustrating player on the team. Plays are there but he isn't making them. Thought for sure he would do something with the 2 on 0 but he, for some reason hurried it, and made a mess of things. Seems like the effort is there but the ease with which he made plays last year simply isn't there. Has to stay on his feet and stop frantically diving around. Might mean you don't always get your stick on your puck but it does mean you stay in a position to make the next play and respond quickly in transition. In some ways he is trying too hard and forcing things and not letting the play come to him.

Overall, I thought the team, given the nature of the schedule, played a good game and maybe were nfortunate not to win. Moreover, you can't criticize too quickly a team that has the season they are having. Hopefully they can keep their focus and dispose of the Sharks (kind of trap game) and get the rest they need over Xmas.

Really? They played great when he was scratched vs Seattle and also played well v Nashville. This game wasn't great but they got a point vs a good team at the end of a road trip tonight. They were bad v SJ when he was out, for sure. It was back to back but they should still beat San Jose.
6/8 points on the road trip is a good trip. They need to be wary of the trap game vs SJ. Home after a 4 game trip with games in a span of 6 days.

Didnt see much of the game because end of the year dinner party for my geezer hockey group (it was really nice steak dinner)

Saw half the last period, and OT. So close to winning, in reg and OT. And kudos for coming back and tying it up.

We are doing so much better than expected, no one should be disappointed in games like this. tough opponent, on the road, at the end of a long road trip.

Well done boys.

whoa you watch new simpsons episodes?

Not THE newest but some of the new ones, I think the last "new" ep I watched was from season 22 or something.

My fav quote from the monorail episode was...

Marge: Homer??
Homer: Nello?
Marge: There's a man here who thinks he can help you!
Homer: BATMAN?
Marge: No he's a scientist.
Homer: Batman's a scientist.
Marge: It's NOT Batman!

YEP!

They need to get rid of the loser point and just play 4v4 or 3v3 until someone scores

And if you get rid of the extra point teams might actually try late to win the game instead of coasting to bank a point

How's about 3 pts for regulation win?

0 pt for regulation loss; 1 pt for OT/SO loss; 2 pts for OT/SO win.

Would that work?

Time to put the back court violation into OT. Being able to skate back into your own end to avoid the slightest hint of traffic is killing it.
Yes easy peasy.Make it 10 minutes and no taking back past C ice once you got the blueline with possession

This team really seems on the verge of being part of the elite group. Can't wait for Myers contract to expire, which will allow a major addition, then we could potentially have one of the best d groups in the league. Add an actual top line winger for Pettersson and we could be in the Cup conversation next year, or even this year if they make a great trade at the deadline. It looks like we are close.

Cole should never be out late to defend a lead, or tie.

EP continues as Bambi on ice. Not shooting, just skating into traffic and falling down.

PDG over Kuz is a joke.
There's obviously a major flaw with Kuzmenko, as Boudreau was making him a healthy scratch as well, when he was coach last year. Then when Tocchet took over, he was healthy scratched some more. The problem continues into this year, and now he's not scoring. He doesn't seem to want to learn or buy in, when everybody else is.

Canucks have played the most games in the LEAGUE do far. Have also had one of the most taxing travel schedules in the LEAGUE do far. Canucks have played 5 or 6 more games than some teams WHILE having one of the worst travel schedules and most miles traveled I repeat IN THE LEAGUE.

Yet we are #1 in Points in the league and top 5 in points %...after getting 6 of 8 points on a 6 games in 8 days road trip.

Anybody seriously complaining about anyone on this team can stfu. They haven't had regular run of games with proper practice time all season.

At the end of last season Tocchet said the team needed to come into camp in shape and focussed because he knew what a shit show it was going to be early.

ADD TO THAT the roster turnover...5 new D? 3 new Forwards? A new backup G?

Everybody bitchin has lost the freekin minds...30 + games in on a team that was expected to miss the playoffs...

Congrats to the believers. This team has some balls out players on it now.
Good f***ing job so far boys!

To me Petey shows like an 11M/year player. He is (often) excellent in both ends. But is not a consistent gamebreaker. I simply do not place in the same tier as MacKinnon, McDavid or Matthews.

11M x 8 years would be fair to both sides imho.

I agree with this. 11m player talent, but without that consistency.
