Let's say Chevy trades for a lhd in a seperate move at a later date. What other return would you see happening? Forwards, prospects, picks etc.
Who would u want, realistically of course?

It's a great time to draw a line in the sand and let future players know we won't put up with this type of strong arm tactics... We are a bubble team at best so who cares we lose a few extra games... In 4 years when we have a team that is reaching its peek a move like this could kill us.

A ot of RH defenceman play on the left side.
Wasn't one being the great Bobby Orr?

There is a well documented negative impact on defenders playing on their offhand.

It hurts in shot differentials (therefor goal differentials) and 5v5 scoring (helps on PP scoring since you get time to set up one timers though). Both those things hurt earnings.

Justified or right, Trouba's usage has likely hurt his earnings.

So small number of games and fancy stats aside

How did Trouba compare to his peers during the World cup?

I'd easily take Ekblad, Parayko and Jones over him. I think Reilly's offensive game is much better than Trouba but Trouba plays better in the dzone so they might be a wash depending on what kind of player you want. I think Trouba and Murray are pretty equal players. Ghost is dynamic and a PP specialist but I think Trouba is still a more effective player.

I agree with this, although I'm still iffy on Jones.

I think he has alienated himself from from team members further with this reasoning especially after the MP quote. I also think we have a very tight group and that will make it hard to ever come back from this.

I wouldn't take Jones. Mostly personal preference. Something about his hockey sense/playing style when I watch him. I am betting he doesn't progress as well as everyone thought he would.

Parayko is older and only has 1 season under his belt. It would be a slight gamble to choose him over Trouba for me.

Trouba is the kind of d-man that people wish guys like Rielly were. Rielly is pretty good though. I'd prefer Trouba right now.

Ekblad is better and is younger, but he's had 2 concussions now. Trouba is much better than so many think because of his usage. His numbers in spite of his usage is pretty great.

A 2017 first would be awesome. Makes draft so much more fun.

One of the reasons they didn't like Kane is because he wanted out. guys don't like it when teammates quit on them. MP already said the room has talked about it. Trouba is more well liked than Kane but I wouldn't put it past guys like Buff and Wheeler to not be very happy about it. Buff and Wheeler seem to take this kind of stuff very seriously.

I have a feeling that Chevy was talking to EDM about Hall and talks broke off after we were awarded the 2nd OVR pick.. Since the Jets have been aware since May, there must be something in the works, I agree Chevy needs to be patient, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see something materialise soon either. Also if the Jet's have known since May, I'm sure more than a handful of serious bidders were aware as well. It feels like some people think that since it was made public yesterday, that yesterday was day 1 for the Jets to begin negotiating with other teams... I don't think Trouba coming out publicly necessarily hurts his trade value to teams who are serious about acquiring him. I'm really interested to see how this turns out.. I feel like a FWD is going out the door with Trouba, possibly Burmistrov, maybe Dano.. I can just picture next year, after trading Trouba + to ANA for Lindholm, chants at the MTS Centre "Lind-Holms Better clap clap clap-clap-clap :handclap:

Way to go Mathieu! He called Trouba's actions "a little selfish".
From all his answers in that interview, he doesn't seem to be a big fan of Trouba, at least personally.
"Disappointed in him."

I thought Copp had it best.

Trouba is selfish for doing what he views is best for him.
He (Copp) is selfish for wanting him still here (and pay his dues).
Copp made the decision for himself over the team when he went pro and left Mich.
That's hockey and that's business.

I disagree with Trouba that what he is doing is best for him, but I get it.

Agree. I think the 2017 draft is looking pretty deep. The high end talent isn't as big but there are definitely some damn good players in the top 60. Would love for us to get another 1st rounder. Keeps me busy.

I think he wants to explain his side, probably apologize to his teammates and the city of Winnipeg. Hopefully everyone will stop crucifying him.

The only downside is Overhardt possibly dictating what Trouba's answers should be.
