What do you mean by that?

So did you post in Kinky's twitter or was it some other fan's twitter who then blocked you?

Pretty sure it was both Gross and Amanda's accounts. I'm guessing Kinkaid's twitter handle was in the posts and he read a couple which referenced his use of emojis instead of worrying about goaltending.

I call it playing good hockey. Kinkaid isn't getting lucky.

Kinkaid's last 9:
7-2
2.28 GAA and .928 save %

Cory isn't getting unlucky, he's playing miserably.

I agree but people also play the hypothetical “well if those shots that hit the post go in we’d lose” nonsense. It’s just tiring. At this point in the season Kinkaid is playing better than Schneider. That’s not to say that long term Kinkaid is better but at the moment he is. I don’t understand why people have a problem saying that.

I'm starting to accept Vatanen as our #1 D-Man. He's been solid in all areas, and is always creating offensive chances. He made some boneheaded plays in his first few weeks with the team but he's really settled down and taken over.

The Devils would have 240 goals for if the one of the two posts they hit every night went in

Part of the reason he's being "saved" by posts though is because he's getting across the ice in a f***ing hurry and covering most of the net, so players are trying to shoot as close to the inside of the post as possible to beat him. When you know the goalie isn't going to get across you have more to aim for.

Play Keith til he falters. He had a strong performance last night, the very definition of giving your team a chance to win. If a little luck was involved so be it.

I can't remember the last time Cory had a game remotely resembling that kind of effort, even pre injury. I don't want to see him anywhere near our net until Keith concedes his interim role as starter for the moment or we have a back to back.

There's no margin for error right now for Cory to find his game, which far as I can tell he left somewhere back in 2017. He had all the chances we can afford to give him right now and he blew it, let him rest and contemplate how to earn his job back.

Nobody told me there'd be days like these...

Why does either goalie have to be labeled right now? KK played well so you give him the next start. That’s as far as it goes and you do that the rest of the way. Cory is signed long term and will be given countless chances so it just has to play out.

It seems that opposing forwards are trying to outwait Cory when he drops down. Butterfly goalies are so methodical that you can sometimes time their drop. Cory has been getting abused glove side, since his timing is off. In contrast, Keith plays hybrid, which is harder to read for an incoming shooter.

It's really the little details with KK. Not sure if anyone noticed the play where he deflected the puck into the stands when the Devils couldn't get out of the zone. He has good awareness

You play Kinkaid now until he gives you a reason not to. Whatever you think of him, Cory is worse right now. If Kinkaid allows a stoppable goal a game, Mary lets in 3. He's the worse option. In theory he's the # 1 but with, is it 13 games left, we can't afford to wait for him to regain his theoretical form. Kinkaid is the one who's winning.

I like his battle level. I like the way he recovers from one save to make an unlikely second save much better than Cory right now. I like his youth. I like above all his physical strength in the net against huge forwards barrelling down on him and trying simply to blast him out of position by contact.

If Cory's in net last night, we probably lose 6 - 2.

Really I doubt that Cory is 100% healthy right now. At the start of the season he had changed his technique so that he was on his feet more, dropping to the butterfly later in a sequence, and when in the butterfly was staying more upright on his knees. He was was stronger physically with his legs in that posture when pushing back against a forward trying to jam at the puck in front of his pads. After the groin injury he's much slacker and softer against physical pressure in front of him. He doesn't look comfortable to me physically and mentally his positioning is off.

What is the argument for going with him right now? I just don't see it. Play Kinkaid until god forbid he gives you a reason not to.

I agree, I believe Cory is still injured and he’s trying to hide it as much as he can.
Or he’s just playing conservative and not playing his normal style.

I mean I've always thought that Cory plays each save more like a machine learning computer simulation. Like baseball analytics where they run millions of simulations to provide the most expected and effective outcome regardless of uncontrolled variables. I know all goalies apply some of this thought. Very much the contemporary-lundqvist like butterfly. Where if a goalie only focuses on position, speed and reflexes that over a period of time the rate statistics will level out in the upper echelon. Team play and defensive style has a huge influence on the expected outcome.

Marty never played solely that way but infused it into his game because he was a student of the craft. Kinkaid seems to have more awareness that hockey is more ebb and flow and situational.

This. And I think there is a very considerable gap between him and anyone you would want to consider #2. Vats has had some hiccups here and there (who doesn’t?) but the criticism posts of his play are the oddest complaints I’ve seen on the boards this season.

He's definitely not still injured and if he's compensating for not being 100% he needs to be kicked off the team.

Wut?

Do you understand how contracts work?

Kick him off the team. 1940's cartoon style. I want a door swinging open, two giant thug hands holding him by the scruff of the neck and belt tossing him out, followed by a hockey bag being thrown out and a stick which will comically land on his head which will now sport a 6 inch pine cone welt circled by 4 tweety birds symbolizing him going into a loopy concussive state.

i was thinking more of a gong show type exit. yes, i understand how contracts work but if cory isn't 100%, which would contradict everything he's said recently, then he definitely shouldn't be playing in net for this team.
