That combined with trading a lot of guys away the past 2 years and leaving a lot of players unsigned from our past few drafts has definitely left the roster a bit thin.Perhaps. There are some fairly productive vets in there that might make up for the lack of young talent. Hershey made a living for years on guys like Keith Aucoin and Alex Giroux even as Washington started to graduate some of their better guys. None of these guys is to their level but could keep them pretty competitive along with a guy that is at least a great AHL goalie and a pretty solid defense.
2017 unsigned - Martin, Makiniemi, De Jong, Rasanen (granted we still can sign Maki and none of those d-men panned out to be worthy of an ELC)
2018 unsigned - Henman, Killinen (both good darts)
NEXT year though, big crop of guys who could come in - 12 draftees, many could end up staying overseas for an extra year or two though should we/they choose.
