Perhaps. There are some fairly productive vets in there that might make up for the lack of young talent. Hershey made a living for years on guys like Keith Aucoin and Alex Giroux even as Washington started to graduate some of their better guys. None of these guys is to their level but could keep them pretty competitive along with a guy that is at least a great AHL goalie and a pretty solid defense.

That combined with trading a lot of guys away the past 2 years and leaving a lot of players unsigned from our past few drafts has definitely left the roster a bit thin.
2017 unsigned - Martin, Makiniemi, De Jong, Rasanen (granted we still can sign Maki and none of those d-men panned out to be worthy of an ELC)
2018 unsigned - Henman, Killinen (both good darts)

NEXT year though, big crop of guys who could come in - 12 draftees, many could end up staying overseas for an extra year or two though should we/they choose.

Killinen is still in our system, playing for Assat in Finland.

He was drafted 2018, but the exclusive negotiation rights for Euro boys last 4 years instead of 2.

Right. Henman didn't get ELCed because the weight/frame concerns were still there even though his production did improve this season. I do also think that COVID played a role, as there were even more uncertainties than usual about player performance in the wake of a pandemic. It's a reason why there were fewer ELC signings league-wide than the usual pace and higher-than-usual draft re-entries. Killinen has team rights for another 2 more years.
