I wouldn't mind keeping Allen and trading Primeau. Run with Montembeault & Allen tandem next year. Cap is so tight this year, deadline is all locked down.

Indeed.

I'd imagine that if they don't get what they're looking for to move him or Primeau now, they'll wait for the summer and take the best offer on the table for either.

Habs are in a good spot, because Monty looks more than ready for 1A workload and either Allen or Primeau will provide solid #2 play behind him.

Won't be surprised if a team with big ambitions that sees their playoffs go up in smoke because of shaky goaltending (any or all of Avs, Kings, Laffs, Canes seem like good candidates) looks to leverage the cap increase to add a vet like Allen to bolster their G depth this summer.

His value as a willing mentor and high quality teammate is clearly appreciated by the Habs & I'd bet there are other GMs who understand & value this as well.

Avs don’t need this bad contract.

Their backup goalie is cheap, 22 years old, and coming off back to back shutouts. Played an elite game he lost the game before that.

Avs need a 2C far more than a backup G.

Now that 2C has been addressed, would you be interested in Allen as a cap dump? What pick would Montreal need to attach to Allen?

The Avs just escaped a bad contract thru next season in RyJo. Why would the Avs want to replace that with Allen’s bad contract thru next season?

The Avs are done with their moves.

The ideas been thrown around of a back up goalie. Annunen has looked good the last few times. If they want to move on from Georgiev and give the net to Annunen, Allen would be an expensive back up. But with Allen as a salary dump, the Avs acquire some draft/trade capital?

Avs are a contender. Why would take take on salary dumps for picks?

Feels like Hughes blew his chance.

He shows that he gives up an early goal too often.

Then again, other goalies who suck ass get signed, so a team might still have belief.

He, or Primeau need to go so the Habs goalies can have an actual rotation.

Wouldn't be surprised if Philly has interest in Primeau.

Could be a decent get for a team like Edmonton or even LA for cheap depth in goals.

Like, what does Edmonton do if Skinner gets injured? Allen can take over decently.

One more year can be good too if the team in question has no backup for next year.

I can't believe a team like Colorado wouldn't pick up Allen at deadline? For a lousy 3rd. It's a steal.

Watching HNIC and Allen using video of goals scored against him to explain what's going. His understanding of game unmatched.

Goaltending and Russian players are the 2 modern inefficiencies in the NHL. It used to be small forwards. Then guys like Gaudreau, Kucherov, Point, Debrincat, Marchand, Marchessault happened. Now teams are smarter.

If a team like Colorado went from Georgiev/Annunen to a Sorokin, Ullmark, Markstrom type if would have as much impact on their team as Mackinnon or Makar and cost 1/4 of what adding a player like that does.
