So Who Made the Yakupov Pick?

Remember when 15 games into the 2011-2012 season Tyler Seguin was top 5 in NHL scoring and Hall wasn't even 0.5 ppg?

Lets let Yak get linemates that aren't defensive specialists like Gordon, AHLers like Arcobello and Hamilton, or trash like Smyth before we judge him.

Yak had the problems I am talking about even when he was scoring goals last year.

This thread is going to blow up after tonight's game, haha. Still think the Oilers made the right pick, but Galchenyuk looked like a beast tonight, Yakupov looked like a complete joke.

Nail is not playing well at all, at least Eberle had some jump in his step tonight although the results weren't there.

Never mind Yak vs Galy, what about the Oilers thinking Grigorenko was better than Galchenyuk? Bunch of morons running the amateur scouting for the Oilers.

Probably had something to do with Galchenyuk being injured that entire year. If he hadn't messed up his knee he'd probably be an Oiler right now.

Galchenyuk is a star in the making but we were never going to pick a prospect who played 8 games in his draft year over a prospect like yak

Only thing to blame is his injury

Who the **** cares?

I do? This team has said its goal to becoming a contender is through the draft, did they not? If they did not see Galchenyuk being the player that he is today, what does that say about them? Never mind them entertaining the idea that Grigorenko could be worthy of the 1st overall pick.

But they didn't pick Grigorenko so it's a moot point. It's just pointless *****ing.

They picked Yakupov. If you want to ***** about that pick, then go right ahead. *****ing about hypotheticals is stupid. Why don't we go back to complaining about the Comrie non-trade yet again?

I am not *****ing about them drafting Yakupov over Galchenyuk. It was clear in my post that my problem is with the scouting staff thinking Grigorenko>Galchenyuk.

chill out and take a pill. He is just stating his concern over the scouting staff and how they had failed to see this when most others teams knew how good he would be. Nothing to get all pissy about.

Okay, so they thought that. It's a nothing point. Who knows, maybe Grigorenko turns out to be the best? We're not even 2 seasons into their careers.

Well, since the Habs and Galchenyuk won the head-to-head battle, Yak sucks and we should have picked someone else. Am i doing it right?

I still remember some of you guys declining a trade where we sent subban for the 1st overall.... Some of you said we needed to add...lmao

For the record, I think Galchenyuk will be the best player of the draft, however Yak will still be very good and serviceable to you guys for many years. I also think there was really no other choice for you guys to make, Gally hardly played the year before and would have been CRAZY risky at #1

In a lot of ways Nail has had it the easiest of our top forward prospects. Hall, Eberle and RNH have bigger pressure on their shoulders and they face the other teams top checking or top lines more often than not. Nail should be able to produce at a good clip in a secondary or tertiary role. Yeah it sucks that he's been laden with guys like Smyth, but he needs to do his part and work on his individual game while also chipping in on the scoreboard.

Pretty much.

I'll take Yak over Galchenyuk any day.

You have to say that...any good Oilers fans should. Just like Habs fans should be jumping up and down claiming they got the best player in the draft.

It will take a few more years to sort that out.
