Voted "no"

Because if our team suffers cap causalities next season and the team takes a step back, that means this could our peak for awhile. Which would be terrible. The team sacrificing Maddens, and other picks for "this big run" is not success in my eyes.

It was a good season, but it needs to have context to be deemed "successful" imo

Why are so many people over analyzing a simple question ?
Look at the teams that are still playing
Now look at the teams that aren’t playing

Yes it is a success

We defeated the defending Stanley Cup champions and officially beat the Knights in regulation for the first time. 100% a success

With the Canucks coming back and beating Vegas after a desultory game 1 loss, the season is a success regardless of the series outcome. Whether it's a stepping stone to competing for a Stanley Cup remains to be seen.

Yes.
"This" very unique, unprecedented season is a success.
Probably never get so many favorable circumstances again, but pretty undeniably a success.

The real deal is continuing this seasons success into the upcoming ones.
That's what we said in 1982 when the Canucks, a team with a regular season losing record, went to the finals. Despite a losing record, they only played teams below them in the standings in the first three arounds because other teams knocked out the first three seeds. Now those are favourable circumstances.

And, to the OPs question, yes, it is a success. The hope was that they would be competitive in the regular season and make the playoffs. The reality is they are now one of the top 8 teams and have a chance to be in the top 4.

Its fitting that Toffoli lit it up last night in his first game back, I've always felt that this team have a (very) small resemblance to the 2012 LA Kings. At least more so than any of the other teams this year.

Trying to figure out how to keep the "Benning is dumb" narrative going: rhetorically whittling away the reality staring us all in the face.

Benning has assembled a top-8 team in the league in 2019-2020 from scratch in just 5 short years, and is receiving accolades from around the league (except for the fringe).

I hope we can keep this run going. All it takes is for our players to get really hot and our youngsters elevating their game.
