So does Toronto now have the best centers in the league?

Toronto doesn't either anymore. If you think Matthews, JT and Kadri are all going to score 30+ you are in for a surprise.

If Babcock stacks the 1st PP they can all score 30. Even if it's just Kadri/Tavares on the 1st PP, all 3 have a good shot at 30+ if healthy. We just had a bunch of soft offensive zone starts open up with Bozak gone.

There is no chance they all score 30, zero.

Why tho? Kadri and Matthews are already playing low ES minutes against above average competition while scoring 30+. Tavares comes in and takes Bozak's minutes + some of the 4th line C's + Bozak's top PP minutes.

What changed from last year other than upgrading from Bozak to Tavares? If JVR can score 36 in those minutes, why can't a massively more talented player in Tavares?

The leafs would need Connor Mcdavid himself to make up the difference between Sid geno and Mathews Tavares
With that comment you are assuming Matthews is the same next season. He is 21. He's the only one who has not even scratched the surface of what he can do. He can outscore Sid and Malkin next season himself.

This summers toronto fans remind me of oiler fans in 2006/2007 proclaiming easily 350 or whatever goals in a season. All three will not score 30 goals. Just because you signed tavares does not mean you get more ice time for the players to produce points.

he has never come close to outscoring either so this is a bit of a stretch even for a delusional leaf fan

Crosby+Malkin+Brassard takes it.

People forget that just two years ago in a more favorable system, Brassard was a 60 point first liner.

Brassard didn't live up to expectations in Ottawa, but we also played a stuffy system that stifled production. Pierre "They don't have an advanced stat to measure getting punched in the face by Mark Borowiecki" Dorion also claimed that in Brassard's first year in Ottawa, the Sens supposed advanced stats guys told him Brassard was the team's best forward.

For now, Crosby+Malkin are much better than Matthews+Tavares, so even if someone would take Kadri over Brassard, I don't think the difference between those two is great enough to give Toronto the edge. Maybe in 2-3 years if Crosby and Malkin show a major decline due to age, but that's not a given.

Kadri had 40 points in 44 games as a 3rd line C in 2013.
I could have sworn I responded to this comment a while ago.

He had over a 15% on-ice shooting percentage that year. People on here pointed out that those numbers were ridiculously unsustainable right when it happened, and he hasn't replicated it since. Because of course he hasn't. He had an over 15% on-ice shooting percentage that year.

Tavaras might be the Most Overrated Player on the Planet.

Have Anyone actually watched him play? Or do you sit on the internet reading waste of time forum?

Bazarl outPlayed him this season already. He was Poor and Invisible most of the time.

He is worse than Mathews.

Toronto C Deepth is Good. Not Great.

People need to stop saying Malkin is going to be better than Tavares/Matthews. For one thing, he's 4+ years older and on the decline. Secondly, he's worse defensively, worse on faceoffs, and has a horrendous penalty differential. Tavares and Matthews are both slightly higher overall impact players right now. Stop living in the past.

Malkin just potted 98 points and is declining?

How does that work out in your head, exactly?
