Since Skinner came in the league he's scored 29 goals/54 points per 82 games compared to 33 goals/64 points per 82 games for Pacioretty during that same timespan.

Since the inevitable comparisons will be made, I'll just say that while Suzuki is the superior prospect, Tatar is a pure cap dump.

Also, if you go back to the Tatar trade at the TDL, Vegas essentially traded Suzuki, a 1st, 2 2nds, a 3rd and Tatar for Pacioretty. Yikes.

Tatar would be a top-6 forward on the Canes next year. He’s significantly better than any of the Canes LW (Ferland, McGinn, Zykov, etc.). Tough to label him a Cap dump here, regardless of how Vegas utilized him.

Dump isn't the right word, unless Tatar struggles again, but that doesn't seem likely. They clearly moved him for "cap relief", but Tatar still scored 20 goals last season and is 1 season removed from a 25G, 46P season.

I wouldn’t say he’s a better goal scorer at all. I agree with the all around player for sure.

By what measure? Even when taking into account the 6 goals in his first 80+ games early in Patches career while Skinner hit the ground running with 30 he still has a higher GPG average than Skinner.

He had a 39 goal season which Skinner has never matched and he’s got 5 30+ goal seasons to Skinner’s 2.

Skinner might be able to create a goal by himself more easily, but that’s it. And that’s not all there is to being a goal scorer.

Keep him if he was a big part that got us there, if not then trade him for something and bring in someone else to take his place. Worse case, we lose him for nothing, which isnt that much worse than what we got for him anyways.

I firmly believe if we didn't trade him in the offseason we were going to lose him for nothing; and with our recent draft history those 2nd and 3rd round picks are better than 1st rounders...
