Since Skinner came in the league he's scored 29 goals/54 points per 82 games compared to 33 goals/64 points per 82 games for Pacioretty during that same timespan.
Since the inevitable comparisons will be made, I'll just say that while Suzuki is the superior prospect, Tatar is a pure cap dump.
Also, if you go back to the Tatar trade at the TDL, Vegas essentially traded Suzuki, a 1st, 2 2nds, a 3rd and Tatar for Pacioretty. Yikes.
I wouldn’t call Tatar a pure cap dump.
I wouldn’t say he’s a better goal scorer at all. I agree with the all around player for sure.
Yeah, I get that, but most accounts that I've read have Suzuki playing wing. I was just thinking out loud about how we might be able to put a similar deal together. That might be equivalent, but I have to imagine that getting another chance at a good young center would have been much more appealing to Montreal given their center woes over the years.
So what do you think Skinner will get in his next contract?
MILLIONS of dollars.
Multiple. Millions. Of. Dollars.MILLIONS of dollars.
I don't care that we traded him, but I do mind when we traded him. Keeping him till the deadline and seeing what the market was then is better than the trash we got for him in the offseason.
Keep him if he was a big part that got us there, if not then trade him for something and bring in someone else to take his place. Worse case, we lose him for nothing, which isnt that much worse than what we got for him anyways.Problem there is what were they going to do if we were a playoff team...
