Justin Holl is 29. he brokeout for us at 28.
Never know when a guy will break out. sometimes change of scenery is all a player needs. hopefully he does better than whats expected of him for us

Im just saying there’s nothing he’s shown to indicate this being a steal. Just a change of scenery move for two fringe nhlers.

Small but smart deal by Dubas.

Barbanov wasn't gonna be in our lineup and they give him a chance to be in the NHL with another team which looks good on the team when trying to attract future KHLers.

Suomela can be a valuable Marlie for the rest of this season and might have some untapped potential. The Leafs have drafted a lot of Finns lately and I could see them viewing Suomela as a veteran AHL mentor to them who they'd like to keep around for a few years.

Not that we needed him but he’s getting looks on the Sharks PP and looks like a player who can hold a regular NHL job on a non competitive team at the least.

we didn't have the room for him to succeed so we placed him in a organization that had the demand for a player of his niche.

that alone will help with future international signings.

As a sharks fan, he's been a breath of fresh air. Though maybe that's because he plays with aggressiveness and creativity while the rest of the Sharks roster has had that systematically beaten out of them by Bob Boughner's system (if you can even charitably call what he has them doing a "system".)

He's clicked on a line with Kane and Hertl and we're all hoping he's playing his way into wanting to stick around with the Sharks for being a good fit (and worrying that he's going to parlay this burst of effective play into taking a deal with another, better team in the off-season.

Such is the state of the sharks that he has been the second most interesting forward on the team this year behind only Rudolfs Balcers, who just like Barabanov came from a Canadian team that cast him out because they didn't have a place for him and has responded with inspired play (though Balcers is more because Pierre Dorion is an idiot and let him go for nothing)

Dubas, is a good heart, but man, everything he does, has a purpose. Great trade for all involved.

Barabanov tells 50 people around him that Kyle Dubas, gets 'it', gets what players need.

Infect people positively. takes the same amount of energy as it does to piss them off.

Totally agree.

Huge reason why free-agent imports are joining Toronto. You get a chance with the Leafs, and if it doesn't work out, Dubas will let you try elsewhere and not hold you to ransom.

Really smart guy.

Doesn't happen enough in the World in general. Treat people right, and people will treat you right. Simple principle, seldom used.

Dude, I have no like button, but huge, huge like on your post. But, its not official, lol.

Dubas and Keefe, have re created, a new paradigm. GM and Coach, getting along, thinking the same way, treating players as MEN.

Thornton, has just come out of a cage, and what I am seeing from him, well, I have never seen it before.

Same for Spezza.

These are two world class talents, rich as all out. Really, really rich.

But instead of drinking nice tasting drinks, on an exotic island away from all this covid noise.

They are in the mix, in the heat, and they are pumped up.

Of course, every NHL team will copy and paste this, if the Leafs win anything of note.

But as a true Leaf fan, we have already won. Cups, mugs, ornaments.

I threw out 90 percent of my trophies on my move from my house to a condo.

Why...... well first of all they were uglier than Jim Hughson, and secondly, they are uglier than Craig Simpeons voice. LOL.

Sure we have Matthews and we have Marner, but more importantly.

We have Shanahan, Dubas, Keefe and Pridham.

Babcock cleared out a lot of weeds as well. He is a characters character. But that man, could organize, he gave instantly cred to the org.

He made one critical error, he thought and threw his lot in with Lou, he didn't realize that Dubas was Shanahan's hunch choice.

Heck neither did we.

Another point tonight for Barabonov. He's been a great pickup for the sharks.

5 points in 5 games. A +3 so far tonight, and Sharks fans have been loving him. He's also been on their
penalty kill.

Did we misuse him?

Can't be a good look for future top Europeans seeing both Lehtonen and Barabanov hardly getting an opportunity in Toronto. Although Mikheyev has succeeded.
If this is the type of identity politics a player finds the need to play to assess whether they will get a chance or not then good riddance with their simplistic lacking in depth level analysis. There’s already enough of these types in Toronto. If a free agent who’s been abroad for a long time is considering signing with Toronto he absolutely should not be comparing himself to Lehtonen who was an NHL regular ending up briefly in Toronto.

There is no "one" way to finding success...its not measured in a vacuum. Maybe a better argument may be that It was a bad time for an overage abroad free agent to sign for a team with high expectations. (1)Short amount time to prove your worth, (2)lots of competition, and a short rope...which probably ties into 1. He's playing on the pp in San Jose... he wouldn't got a sniff in Toronto. Confidence is huge in sports, points are part of confidence.

Sure it's great that Dubas moved both the European free agents...but they really didn't get a much of an opportunity especially considering the need to adapt to a new country, new team, new language, smaller ice etc etc etc

He’s plain and simply been our best player since his first game. A nose for where to go and a knack for always being around the puck. The chemistry he formed with Hertl and Kane was almost instantaneous.
With that said, he wouldn’t be the first player to come in on fire.
