This is funny. No way do I want Toews, but Ottawa played Gambrell and Kelly for a combined 110 useless games this year. Then add in all of the useless callups that provide nothing.
It depends on the options available. We currently have 4 roster openings at F (2nd line LW, 3rd line LW, 4th line RW, 13th forward).
Options include:
Debrincat (my preference for 2nd line LW)
Gauthier
Watson
Formenton (my preference for 3rd line LW)
Brown
Gambrell
Brassard
UFA (Toews, Reaves (my preference for 13th F or 4th line RW))

It's a very delicate situation.

I am all for bringing in established winning veterans to occupy 2-3 spots on our bottom six. Guys like Perry, Toews, Staal, Spezza, etc have shown how impactful they can still be when put in a limited role.

If we can get a few guys like this for good prices ($1M or less) I think its exactly what this young team needs. A little winning experience and pedigree can go a long way on influencing these youngsters. Just look at the impact Giroux has had on Stutzle.

Spezza didn't do crap with the Leafs. Good post otherwise
