Also it's pretty ridiculous the way some people use this overall absolutely awful performance by coach and the team systematically and individually by pretty much every player to try and further their agenda against one player.

Anyone that tries to pin this on one player alone or feel the need to focus completely on one player after a game like this is doing nothing more than pouncing on any opportunity to say "I told you so."

Happens a lot round here if you haven't noticed.

You just can't win being a fan of this team. When they play well they give you the hope that maybe, just maybe this core can turn it around and then they lose a game like this and you seriously start to doubt the future.

You can't win.

Abundantly clear that Gardiner isn't the problem. He missed this game entirely, and it was the 2nd worst defensive performance of the season.

The issues are team wide. Do not blame one player. It's the system. The coach creates the system. It's broken. So only one proper solution remains.

The players may need to be changed also, but at least fire Carlyle, and give someone else a shot to squeeze more out of this team.

We do the same things over and over, and expect the results to be different. They won't be.

This is what annoys me the most, this franchise has been doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results. This franchise needs to get rid of Carlyle and Nonis and go in a completely different direction. Yes some of the players have to be changed but the GM and the coach need to be fired thats for certain.

Whatever, I'm over it. Bad nights happen.

Chicago played last night too. We also won last time we played them, no reason we cant do it again right? And we should beat Dallas.

I'm not worried.

Simmonds intimidated the holy hell out of our hockey club tonight...as soon as he went after Holland in the first period you could tell the Leafs were a disinterested team. When are we going to handle **** like this?

The fact that the line Bozak is on is designed to score goals, not prevent them.
That line is still a rush line with Lupul on it and it will not be able to maintain high offensive output over 82 games. We need Lupul to be back with Holland and have one of Winnik/ on the line to strengthen it defensively.

Carlyle's specialised lines are not working. We need four balanced lines and to expect Kadri to play a Toews-like role is not really sensible.

At the end of the day this is a Kessel/Bozak/JVR team and we always end up reverting to their way of playing. I don't care if Phaneuf wears the C, your best player is follow the leader.

We keep hearing the same excuses, see the same problems and keep playing the same way under Carlyle, but people expect to see different results?

I'm surprised Carlyle still has a job; hes clearly not the right coach for this team.

Kessel must love playing for the Leafs. He's skilled enough to put up points without giving a real effort on a nightly basis and since most of us just go: "OMG HE'S PPG+, he's playing great," he can get away with it.

Toronto is the best city in the world to play hockey if you're a lazy offensive player. Show up once every few games, put up points and no one will be after you.

Man I don't even care whose fault it is anymore. I'm just tired of having a crappy hockey team every year, you know?

Not the coach's fault. They have a handful of completely lazy players that decide to show up when they want. Kessel, JVR, Lupul and Phaneuf are the rotten core of this team, and 2 or all of them need to go.

Obviously, you're not because you still stick around.

Leaf fans keep supporting a franchise that doesn't care if you're 'tired of it' or not.

Have you watched Gardiner play this year? He's certainly part of the problem. His contract takes up valuable cap space as the 2nd highest paid D man on the team. His play is a problem. So yes he is definitely part of the problem on a team that is 24th in GA.

Oooooookay :help:

I'll be a Leafs fan no matter how crappy they are -- that's the point of being a fan.

If you wanna bandwagon, I'm sure the Blackhawks board would love to have you.

I think we played pretty well until we didnt.

As a constant Kessel basher the first period pretty much sums him up and why I would want to replace him with some one else.

He got 2 assists while we went 2-0 up against the Flyers. That´s fine even do it was secondary assists (first goal was all about Rielly skating hard and finding Lupul, the other goal was all about Franson making the right decision and make a shot-pass (or whatever it is called) instead of making a regular pass or shot).

Anyway, so we are 2-0 up and starting to look more and more confident. Then Kessel looses the puck high up along the boards because he is afraid to play physical. Flyers counters and score a goal. Shortly after one of our defenders are trying to clear the zone by playing the puck up along the boards to Kessel. Kessel stands still and watch a Flyers player (Read?) come in between him and the puck and take control of the puck. Flyers attack and they make it 2-2.

Some times you have players who make all the little things the right way, well Kessel is the opposite of that. He is unable to make any those little things right and thus cost us more goals against then he is creating for us. You can not win with a guy like that. You just cant.

I dont care that he can get almost 40 goals in just about any season or that he creates a lot of offense when he shots the puck at net. And I am actually worried how the next batch of Leafs players will respond to watching the teams biggest star player bail on play after play because he is afraid of getting hit. And that is the player we have rewarded with a 8 year contract.

C'mon, he sent it through two Flyers to find Franson sneaking off the point.

His offensive talents are top notch....It's his play in the neutral and defensive zone everyone has a problem with. A lot of people are showing disgruntlement towards kessel due to his inability to improve on his defensive deficiencies and cowardice to take hits.

I don't buy **** like that. Your telling me Polak couldn't dummy that twig if he wanted to?

Callin up Orr and McLaren isnt the answer. They played like ****, period.

Carlyle is the problem. He still can't figure out how to optimize this lineup. It's embarrassing.

His teams in Anaheim sucked possession wise, and improved greatly once he was replaced. His style does not work, unless he has two first ballot hall of fame defensemen sheltering his poor decisions.

Get him out and let Spott take the interim reins. It can't really get worse.
