Disagree. He had net to shoot at, even from that angle. And he hit the post. Generally a teammate won’t get annoyed if the shot hit post. There’s recognition the guy beat the goalie and only missed by an inch

Hitting the post makes it look less bad, but that's a very low percentage play. G

the whole "get the puck on net and good things will happen" approach, but if I have the puck at a 15° angle and I see someone streaking to the back post I'm passing it.

Dowd would be an interesting choice. Darryl Sutter used him quite a bit on the PP back when Dowd was with LA. Did work well. In fact, Dowd kinda started his NHL career as a PP-specialist. From what I remember that's what kept him in the lineup...well, that and his efficient hitting, since he wasn't always as defensively responsible as he's now.

I'd keep him too...there's no market for goalies.... possible return probably wouldn't be worth it. I mean LA got a 4th round pick for Ben Bishop. They sent Cernak to Tampa to get Bishop but they wouldn't have done it had they known how good Cernak is.
So unless the Caps get an offer involving an interesting prospect they might as well keep Holtby. Nobody is gonna part with a significant pick to land Holtby...especially since his modified NTC complicates things even more.
