Da Big Apple
His first year he hurt his knee in training camp, played decently the first half of the season but was clearly not fully healthy and missed the second half because of it, and the past season he was basically back to himself at 5v5, but he had his worst year of his career on the PP and the lowest sh% of his career. He's still a good player.

to accommodate last gasp of the effin win now [at any/all costs] crowd he played thru injury too much and I think he is only just now just starting to get over it.

We have emerging LDs, not so much RDs.
Also, if we are going to pull stunts [retain, make concessions on return] to move guys then that is gonna be spent on moving
Staal [eg at half for Marleau at full pop]
Namest. to send him to TB which is only place we can ship him to where he has a track record of production [with Stamkos]
or on Smith

So unless he wants to go and chase a cup, I would keep Shatty another year at min
