That's actually a pretty good penalty shot move IMO. Takes advantage of his size & reach. Goes forehand to backhand and the puck winds up 2-3 feet farther over to the other side of the goalmouth than it would from a regular sized skater. Yeah, he could maybe have taken another stride, but he got it past the body and Dell had to save it with his arm.
