We probably won't even get a Hiney Head presser today. They barely ever show them when we lose.

But when we beat Buffalo, they seemed to show him talking for about 5 minutes and he was still talking when they cut off the presser.

You just knew they were going to have a dud today. It's been a week in the making. Solid sharks team that's been sliding while playing back to back and the Devils did absolutely nothing with it. This was a measuring stick game and a win could've really put them in the thick of it standings wise. This was about as **** poor a game as you could imagine.

Our offense has been even lousier than our defense too and still needs work.

Cammalleri was a +4 today, which led all forwards and was second best on the team after Severson at +7

Yet Cammalleri only played a little over 13 minutes today. I'm not sure why he got such little ice time.

And Severson needs to play more than Lovejoy at this point. I don't wanna hear ''But he's 22!'' he's clearly better than Lovejoy and that's not debatable and he might be our best defenseman period, but that is up for debate.

The Helgeson experiment needs to die. He hasn't been quite the liability that he was in past call ups, but he still has no ability to make any play with the puck or move the puck out of the D zone at all. We can't breakout with him in the lineup, Lovejoy is already a big enough of an anchor. We looked like this in the most recent Montreal game and similar in the Calgary home game. He was in the lineup both those games and the offense was completely dead, especially in that Montreal game. I'm not saying it's all his fault, but a defenseman with such little skill like that is definitely not helping things on offense, any more than he's helping defensively. Stollery can make a few plays and move the puck at least minimally. Helgeson does none of that, neither does our #2 D man (LOL) Ben Lovejoy.

Agreed, they needed to make a decision if they were going to try and tread water or sink and today they showed its definitely the latter. May as well embrace the lost season this has been and salvage what they can for draft position.

We've been in no man's land for too many years as it is. Can neither make the cut for postseason nor draft at a position that's consistent with how bad the team has been.

Why am I not surprised?

Bleed, you called it when you said that Deboer basically marked this date on his calendar 'cause he wanted to beat the Devils.

If every single game in the regular season was against the Devils(at least the one that played last night), the Sharks would've gone undefeated. :shakehead

It's like beating us is Pete's Stanley Cup.

That was DD that said Pete marked this date on the calendar and would coach this game like the SCF, not me!

I said Pete probably couldn't care less and was able to coach this game like a preseason game, with the way Hiney Head was running things today.

And one thing I think it's time to revisit, reuniting the Greene and Severson pairing. Lovejoy is playing too much, Severson isn't playing as much. This is incomprehensible at this point.

Greene and Lovejoy ensures that Lovejoy is out there with the toughest competition possible.

Should have known better than to be excited to watch them play again... 5 day break, matinee, against the Sharks. This was a disaster waiting to happen

Lovejoy averaging 3 minutes more (roughly) per game than Severson is like asking for disaster to happen. Then putting the scrubs out there against Couture and Marleau, because he believes they're responsible defensively. I'm starting to think the same way a friend of mine does. He believes Hynes might actually be a really good coach and knows what he's doing. Coming up with calculated plans to punt the games.

''We've won a few too many games lately, it's time to make Lovejoy our #2 guy in ice time''.

Our Coach is incomprehensible. I suppose he is entertaining as far as train-wrecks go.

But yeah....Might as well try putting Greene and Sev back together. Nothing to lose at this point.

I mean it's not like Shero was the one that fired Pete so why would he have anything against us per se? Most of the guys that were here when Pete was around are no longer. It was just inevitable the Sharks were due for a good game, and with us on the schedule it became a clown pounding. Especially given the fact we don't match up well with big teams to begin with and we had Moore back in the lineup for his first game and Helgeson playing again cause Quincey's out.

I wish Pete was that mad against the Panthers when they fired him, we were basically .500 against them during his tenure :sarcasm:

Short of putting shock collars on the players, I'm not sure what Hynes is supposed to do. These are professional athletes. If they don't know how to get ready for a game with a week off, that's on them.

Devils must earn 6 points in the next 3 games somehow.
If not, it will be all about selling for Ray and just playing out the string unfortunately.

Philly found a way to get 2 points vs SJ.
NJD found a way to get thoroughly dominated by SJ.

Anyone finally realize Cammy isn't worthy of a top 6 anymore? He has been toast and brain dead 90% of this season. Not that this game made me realize this but just stating what ive noticed since October. Sadly we will never get rid of him with the contract he has.

I wanted him gone in December.
I'll be ecstatic if Ray can deal him before he gets injured.
He's cooked, washed up at this point.
Maybe a trade to a good team can spark him in the postseason, but, he's finished here being a top player.

I think a lot of it has to do with Helgy's 1 way deal.

Severson's almost got 200 games under his belt. Time to take the handcuffs off.

Nobody would claim Helgeson, every organization has at least one, if not multiple, Helgesons. Lovejoy gets the time he gets because Hynes doesn't like Seversons overall game because of his defensive flaws. He'll rely on vets like most coaches in this league. Im guess this is all accurate with regard to Severson, it's hard to guess because there's no obvious reason for Severson to not play when the team has John Moore as the next best offensive defenseman.

Severson's biggest limiting factor on offense is that his shot is a complete muffin. I don't think there's one goalie in the league who fears it.

His playmaking is top notch, but at the moment he's projecting to be a Keith Yandle type. Nothing to scoff at for a 2nd rounder, but not quite what we were all hoping.

Severson is a borderline top pairing defenseman at 22. He's one of the best possession defenseman in hockey honestly and he hasn't played with one strong possession defenseman all year.

The hate on him is mind boggling.
