The Edmonton Oilers are pleased to select, from the Sudbury Wolves, Marc Staal.

(Sorry, LT. I'm out of town this weekend, so I'll get back to you later on today. Not that that helps you move up now. :D )

It's okay, you chose the right guy so I can't get too mad. ;)

IMO Carey Price is the BPA, so i'd recommend him for the pick if the toronto GM's time expires.

i was thinking the same thing. A future starter also would be a good thing to have in Toronto's system

That's who it was going to be. Toronto lacks a strong goaltender prospect, so I'd say he's just about the best pick for them at this point.

Not like a fourth opinion was needed, but TOR could really use another great goaltending prospect. Tellqvist had a tremendous season for St. John's and should certainly be a great backup-capable starter(if Belfour gets bought out) for TOR next year. He's turning 26 in September and is not really a "prospect". After that, Racine and Pogge aren't much to put stock in. Knowing goalies take about 3-5 years to develop and mature, Price would be an excellent choice for them.

Trade is confirmed.

With the 14th overall pick the NYR select Luc Bourdon.

With the 15th overall pick, the Ottawa Senators are proud to select from the Czech. Republic, Martin Hanzal.

I think he's the best player available at the moment. A big guy who has lots of offensive talent and the Sens are obviously good with European talent.

To NJ: Jozef Balej, PHI 2005 2nd round pick (32nd overall), NYR 2005 3rd round pick (67th overall).
To NYR: John Madden, NJ 2005 1st round pick (14th overall, Luc Bourdon), NJ 2005 3rd round pick (74th overall).

Good, smart trade for both teams. The Devils (Lowetide) add a top prospect, and two picks, while dumping Madden's salary. The Rangers (Balej's Dance) pick up Madden to replace Holik, which is an upgrade IMO, and add another solid prospect in Bourdon to go with Kopitar making the Rangers one of the big winners of the first round.

Good deal guys.
